A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR DR. RICHARD C. ALDERMAN, PASTOR OF LITTLE ROCK BAPTIST CHURCH IN DILLON COUNTY, AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR HIS FORTY-SIX YEARS OF LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE, AND DEDICATION.

Whereas, Dr. Richard C. Alderman was born in Sumter County to Paul and Jean Alderman; and

Whereas, Dr. Alderman received his theological training at Columbia Bible College, Southeastern Baptist Seminary, and Luther Rice Seminary and has also studied at the University of North Carolina, University of South Carolina, Duke University, and North Carolina State University, and was ordained by Grace Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina in 1955; and

Whereas, as an ordained minister for fifty years, Dr. Alderman has served as pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Pelion and currently pastors Little Rock Baptist Church where he has been serving since 1959; and

Whereas, the year 2005 marked Dr. Alderman’s fiftieth anniversary as an ordained minister; and

Whereas, in addition to his pastoral involvement, Dr. Alderman has dedicated his time and abilities to countless boards and committees including the Better Government Committee in Dillon County, as President of the Dillon County United Fund, and as a founding trustee of the Tri-County Mental Health Center; and

Whereas, Dr. Alderman has used his Godly anointing by speaking at numerous conferences and revivals, teaching Bible classes in two Dillon high schools, writing two books about religion, and serving on many religious boards and committees across the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, as involved in his community as he has been, Dr. Alderman always has time for his family. He is married to Mrs. Martha Knight Alderman and is the loving father of three sons and one daughter; and

Whereas, as a mentor, teacher, and confidante, Dr. Richard C. Alderman is truly a unique individual who selflessly and often anonymously gives to others, and for this he deserves much recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Dr. Richard C. Alderman, Pastor of Little Rock Baptist Church in Dillon County, and express appreciation for his forty-six years of leadership, guidance, and dedication.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Richard C. Alderman.
