A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE CHARLESTON BATTERY SOCCER TEAM OF DANIEL ISLAND ON ITS OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE, DEDICATION, AND DETERMINATION THROUGHOUT ITS IMPRESSIVE 2003 SEASON AND ON CAPTURING THE 2003 ALEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize dedicated athletes who excel in individual and team sports and whose skills lead them to the greatest achievement in their sport and to bring home a championship title; and

Whereas, to become soccer champions, every member of the team and the coaching staff must have special leadership skills and athletic abilities; and

Whereas, using those talents, Coach Chris Ramsey and the members of the Charleston Battery Soccer Team of Daniel Island played challenging games throughout their season with dogged determination and extraordinary teamwork to ultimately become the best soccer team in the ALeague; and

Whereas, they worked hard and underwent rigorous training in order to develop a team that was committed to winning and achieving its goals; and

Whereas, with every team member’s commitment, concentration, and well honed skills, the outstanding guidance of Coach Ramsey, and the support and leadership of Tony Bakker and Nigel Cooper, the Charleston Battery Soccer Team defeated the Minnesota Thunder Soccer Team and became the 2003 ALeague Champions; and

Whereas, the Charleston Battery Soccer Team’s continued commitment to excellence serves as an inspiration to all soccer enthusiasts and furthers the advancement of professional soccer in this State; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the physical and mental abilities of these South Carolinians and wish these athletes much success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the Charleston Battery Soccer Team of Daniel Island on its outstanding performance, dedication, and determination throughout its impressive 2003 season and on capturing the 2003 ALeague Championship Title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Charleston Battery Soccer Team of Daniel Island.
