1.From the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR FATHER MICHAEL PRIOR

There will be a Memorial Mass for the late Father Michael Prior on Tuesday, 2 November 2004 at 12:00noon in the University Chapel. Fr. Michael Prior was a Priest, Biblical Scholar, Supporter of Palestinian rights and a friend of BethlehemUniversity. All faculty and staff are invited.

2.From the Vice President for Development

Recently we have had a good number of visiting individuals and groups to the University. Thank you to all for completing the Visitor Information Form on the intranet. It helps us to publicize these visits and to prepare for them. Thank you also to all those who graciously volunteered to host our visitors and to help in touring them around the campus and discussing aspects of the University with them. If there are some faculty, staff or students who would like to volunteer in the future to help tour visiting groups or to meet with them in discussing aspects of the University, please send Brother Jack an email ().

3.From the Vice President for Finances and Planning

• We will pay October salaries Saturday 30 October. Bank transfers will be made on that date, and pay slips will be available from Sister Corazon Hinlo on Friday 29 October.

• Students who did not fill the Social Survey can do so between 26-29 October in the OLD Finance Office on the second floor of the MainBuilding, from 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Please note that financial aid (grants, loans, waivers, work-study) will be authorized only if the Social Survey is on file.

4.From the Director of Personnel Management

By mistake, the title “Doctor” was not written in the Personnel Directory with the name of the Dean of Students, Mr. Zein Al-Abdeen Awawdeh. Also, Ms. Hanadi Soudah, Department of English, appeared in the photo section under family name Soudah, while it appeared in the alphabetical section under Younan. Her full name is Soudah-Younan.

5.From the Library Director

The university library page on the Intranet website has been greatly expanded. Future plans include an Arabic version. At this time we need suggestions from the faculty for additional internet sites to add to the "Website Resources" for major fields of study. Comments for improvement are also welcomed. Congratulations to George Maria for the technical work.

6.From the Faculty Club

The Faculty Club will meet on Friday, October 29, from 3:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. in the Millennium Lounge. All Faculty and Administrative Staff are invited.

7.From the Director of Instructional Technology

On Wednesday, 27 October we are hosting Mr. Heikki Kokkala and an evaluation team from Finland. They will evaluate the program of the DigitalMediaCenter.

8.From the Assistant Dean of Students

The University community is invited to the following events:

• “Workshop on Creative Writing” by Ms. Aida Ismail, on Tuesday, 26 October, from 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. in Room 404

• Film entitled “Women in Struggle,” by the Palestinian Director Buthaina Khoury, on Wednesday, 27 October, from 2:00 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. in Brother Joe Hall.

• The Classical Hour, organized by Dr. Salim Zoughbi, will take place on Monday 25 October, at 12:00 Noon in Room 003 in Millennium Hall, and will feature Mozart/Bach excerpts from Symphony number 40 and other works, and Brandenburg Concerto number five and other works.

سنقيم قداسا ًتذكارياً للأب المرحوم مايكل براير يوم الثلاثاء 2/11/2004 الساعة 12:00 ظهراً في كنيسة الجامعة. الأب مايكل كان راهباً وعالماً في الإنجيل ومسانداً للشعب الفلسطيني وصديقاً لجامعة بيت لحم. نتوجه بالدعوة لكل أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والموظفين لحضور الصلاة.

زارنا مؤخراً في الجامعة عدد غير قليل من الأفراد والمجموعات. نشكركم لأنكم تقومون بتعبئة قسيمة الزوار عبر الإنترانت، لأن هذا يساعدنا في الإعلان عن الزيارة والتحضير لها. كما نشكر كل من يتطوع لاستقبال الضيوف ومرافقتهم في جولة في الجامعة والحوار معهم حول جامعة بيت لحم. يرجى مراجعة الأخ جاك إذا كانت لديكم الرغبة في التطوع لاستقبال الضيوف والحوار معهم ومرافقتهم في جولة في الجامعة.

1. من نائب الرئيس للشؤون المالية والتخطيط

• سنقوم يوم السبت 30/10 بدفع رواتب شهر تشرين الأول وستتم التحويلات البنكية في نفس اليوم، كما بإمكانكم استلام قسائم الرواتب من الأخت كورازون هينلو يوم الجمعة 29/10.

• الطلاب الذين لم يقوموا بتعبئة قسيمة المسح الاجتماعي بإمكانهم القيام بذلك في الفترة الواقعة بين 26 – 29/10 في المكتب المالي القديم في الطابق الثاني من المبنى الرئيسي، من الساعة 8:30 صباحاً – 3:30 بعد الظهر. نود التأكيد أن المساعدات المالية (المنح والقروض والإعفاءات وتوظيف الطلاب) لن تتم إلا إذا كان المسح الاجتماعي موجوداً ضمن ملفاتنا.

1. من مديرة مكتب شؤون الموظفين

لقد سقط سهواً لقب "الدكتور" لعميد شؤون الطلبة السيد زين العابدين عواودة في دليل الموظفين، ولذا اقتضى التنويه. كذلك ورد اسم السيدة هنادي من دائرة اللغة الإنجليزية في قسم الصور تحت اسم سوداح وفي القسم الألفبائي ورد تحت اسم " يونان". أما الاسم الكامل فهو سوداح-يونان وبالتالي سيرد اسمها دوماً تحت حرف الياء.

يسعدنا إبلاغكم أننا قمنا بتوسيع صفحة المكتبة على الإنترانت، ونحن ترحب باقتراحات أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية لتوسيعها بشكل أفضل. تهانينا للسيد جورج ماريا على عمله في هذا المجال.

• يقوم الدكتور سليم الزغبي بإعداد "ساعة الموسيقى الكلاسيكية"، وذلك يوم الاثنين 25/10 الساعة 12:00 ظهراً في غرفة رقم 3 في مبنى الألفية وستشمل معزوفات لموزارت وباخ و مقطوعات من المعزوفة رقم 40 وأعمالاً أخرى، ومعزوفة برانديربيرغ رقم 5 وأعمالاً أخرى.
