Building Community Partnerships
  • Mrs Fraser presented a proposal to Clint White from The Professionals Kelly Team that they purchase and present a book or book voucher to a student for their excellence in reading; that they help support YPS through communicating to potential home buyers and YPS families via a flyer the school would develop and publish; and that they fund a voucher for approximately $200 as an incentive for parents to pay their voluntary contribution. Mr White was happy to oblige these requests as well as offering YPS the opportunity to write about the school for their next quarterly newsletter.
Partnership Acceptance Learning Sharing (PALS) Grant
  • YPS has been successful this year for approximately $700-$800 funding to develop an Aboriginal Art work. Some ideas for beautification of the school include wall art, totem garden poles, and mosaics.
Curriculum
  • Literacy Blocks commenced this year, which are similar to Maths blocks and function towards providing a student centred approach to learning. Mrs Greenway will work on developing a Challenge Program across the school and will support teachers in the class to provide strategies that will challenge students’ thinking.
School Board Development Program
  • Mrs Fraser, Mr Brad Gannon (SB Chair) and Mrs Helen Pynes will be attending a two day conference on the Governance of School Boards. All information will be disseminated to the SB members.

  • Cash book balance is at $12,028.67.
  • YTD income is $4,871.03.
  • YTD expenditure is $3,062.69.
  • Silver Coin Fundraiser has raised $183.95 so far.

  • Cash book balance is at $3,324.48.
  • Total profit is $116.83.
  • A discussion was held in regards to possibly increase the price of sandwiches.
The following was decided on:
Price of sandwiches and wraps to increase from $3.00 to $3.50, and $4.00 for sandwiches and wraps with salad and/ortoasted.
Mrs Barnes created a canteen survey for parents to complete asking for preferred canteen open days; suggestions for menu changes or items to include; and suggestions for canteen improvements.

10.1 / Mrs Barnes announced that Denise Hollins is now a P&C member.
Mrs Fraser advised the canteen kickboard was repaired by YPS.
Mrs Fraser suggested that P&C meetings and agenda items have a set time. The P&C agreed to keep meetings to a maximum of 1.5 hours. Mrs Fraser also advised that parents have indicated that they would like to attend P&C meetings, but are normally unable to attend in the evenings. She suggested the possibility of holding day meetings as well as evening meetings. The P&C agreed to hold the first meeting of term3 and 4 at 9AM. / Mrs Moulton to send out meeting agenda with allocated time frames.
