WWII Project – U.S. History II

Due: Feb 22th Monday

Directions/Requirements:

  • Choose one of the possible 32 research topics (listed on the back) from the WWII unit. If there is a topic that you would like to research that is not on the list, please see me and get it approved.
  • You will write a 1-2 page paper. In your research, you should explain the following:
  • Explain/describe the topic (informational)
  • Explainits SIGNIFICANCE to the WWII era/ Why is it an important topic?
  • Analyze the effect that your topic had on the war and what impact it has had on the world today.
  • Be sure to include the facts that you found interesting!
  • You will also have to find at least 5 supporting visuals for your topic. These can include (but are not limited to): photographs, graphs, pictures, original artwork (created by you), timelines, news articles, posters, primary source documents, maps, etc. The visuals MUST supplement your project topic. They MUST help the reader/viewer of your project to further understand what your topic is and why it is significant. You MUST explain how each visual helps us understand the significance of the event (they need to be informative). Explain what you want the reader to get out of the visual (at least 2-3 sentences per visual). The visuals should be attached to your paper.
  • You will create a propaganda poster that either supports your topic or fights against it. The poster must be on poster board (24 x 20, at least) - The poster can include, pictures, slogans, printouts, and any other information that will influence your audience. It should be colorful and grab the attention of your audience. Wow factor!

Propaganda / Images/Script clearly relates to the main topic. It is apparent to the viewer that the author took time and effort to create their project. Includes a Wow Factor. / Images/Script somewhat relates to the main topic. It is apparent to the viewer that the author did not spend adequate time or effort to create their project. / Images/Script has little or nothing to do with the main topic. It is apparent to the viewer that the author scrambled to assemble their project last minute.
5 visuals / All visuals are present and easily readable. The visuals are explained thoroughly (at least 2-3 sentences the s documented in the desired format. / All visuals are present, but they are not easily readable and there is minimal to no explanation of each. / All or some of the visuals are missing and there is no attempt at explaining the significance of the visuals.
