KREUZ-UND-QUER IN LOD: Kreuz-und-Quer means Zig-Zag in a forward direction. It needs to be somewhat exaggerated to have the correct effect. Everyone starts with LEFT foot, W always looks at M

1-2Zig to center (left), M looks to left

3-4Zag to outside (right), M looks at W

5-6 Zig to center (left), M looks to left

7-8 Couple turns CW with W backing up into center and M turning around to

outside ending up facing RLOD, M looks at W

KREUZ-UND-QUER IN RLOD:

1-2 Zig to outside (left), M looks to left

3-4 Zag to center (right), M looks at W

5-6 Zig to outside (left), M looks to left

7-8 Couple turns CW to face center and join hands with adjacent couples to

form momentary circle (this is primarily to form the circle)

WOMEN IN/OUT: M do pas-de-bas in place

1-2Starting on RIGHT foot, W do two (2) change steps towards center of

circle. On Meas. 2, W bring hands down to behind back for turn

3-4Using change step, W do 1 full CW turn to come back facing center of

circle

5-6W do two (2) change steps backing out of center of circle returning to

original position. On Meas. 5, as they begin to back out of circle, hands return to hips

7-8Using change step, W do 1 full CW turn to come back facing center of

circle

MEN IN/OUT: W do pas-de-bas/turn in place, starting on RIGHT foot

1-3Starting on LEFT foot, M do three (3) change steps towards center of

circle

4Standing facing center of circle, M use the three beats of the measure to

(1) clap hands on thighs, (2) clap hands together, (3) clap hands with

adjacent M (right to right M, left to left M). M look to RIGHT on 3.

5-7Using three (3) change steps, M back out of circle to original position

starting with LEFT foot

8Using one change step, M & W turn to face each other (M turns CW) into

closed ballroom position

RHEINLANDER: Here, the Rheinländer consists of two parts, the actual Rheinländer of using two measures to bring the W in front of the M and return to side, and then two measures for waltz steps in LOD:

1-4Waltz/Waltz

5-6Waltz

7-8Break into circle

WAVE WITH WOMEN SPIN LEFT: The "wave" consists of a pas-de-bas towards center of circle, pas-de-bas out

1-2Wave

3-4M drops hands with W on his left and pulls the W on his right so that she

spins to the left in front of him with two change-steps to the vacated position on his left. M pas-de-bas away from center as W spins in front of him. Hands are held up to catch the W as they change places.

5-6Wave

7-8Same as 3-4 above but as W start turn into new position ALL drop hands

to end up facing new partner with hands on hips for quick nod.

GRAND RIGHT AND LEFT:

1-8With W on right, all do pattern (M CCW/LOD, W CW/RLOD) with low

handhold, starting with right hand, turning by high right hand hold once CW with 5th person (W on right/M on left is #1)

9-16Pattern continues around circle with low handhold, turning by high right

handhold once around CW with 5th person (W/M in first turn is #1). M should end up on INSIDE of circle, W on outside

RIGHT ARM CIRCLE/NOD:

1-6With the W he has just done a high right hand hold CW circle, M will

continue CW circle with this W, turning 1/4 with each TWO measures. Both will use a waltz step to do the circle - SLOW DOWN! Nod toward partner on odd (1,3,5,7) measures, nod away from partner on even (2,4,6,8). On 2 and 6, couple should be such that M nods to adjacent W and W to adjacent M.

7-8Drop right hand to behind partner’s back and reach with own left to take

the hand that is behind your own back

BEHIND BACK CIRCLE/NOD: With same waltz steps and nods as before, continue CW turning

1-6Behind Back Circle

7-8With W in position, M releases R hand (W's L), M turns CCW to face W

as W turns CW to face M

Repeat Rheinländer

Repeat Wave With Women Spin Left, bow to second spun W to end dance
