Forestry Commission £1- The route is only possible with the consent of the Forestry Commission, a charge of £1 per rider is included with your entry fee.

Members – Please remember to show your log book and membership card and present your master card to the secretary on the day with the first four columns completed.

Non Members/Newcomers Please ask the secretary if you need any help with procedures etc. and don’t be shy to ask questions.

All riders in SCTclasses– Your Rufus score is calculated and will be available at the same time as your Graded master card. The scores will be added to the main board as soon as they are available. Place prizes and rosettes will be awarded as soon as possible.

TEAM CHALLENGE – Don’t forget if you would like to be part of a team it is free to enter and is great fun, 4-6 riders needed. Please either download from the Rufus ride schedule or contact Sarah at for a team entry form. Rosettes to first two teams.

Camping and Corralling - Must be booked in advance - If you are staying overnight, it is essential that you park where directed. Corrals must be electrified and access to the corral field must be closed behind you at all times. A tag will be provided for emergency numbers and contact details. Camping £10 per unit (2 people + 1 horse). Please arrive before 7pm on Saturday or you may find the gate locked. Please ring Sarah on 07748567205 if you think you may be later.

Pre ride - All horses must be registered and the completed Endurance Horse Log Book Master Card presented to the secretary on collection of your number. Any route changes will be displayed in the office, so please check the board on the day of the ride. For additional maps, please visit the ride schedule where they are downloadable.

Start - All riders will be allocated a vetting window please start within 30 mins of your vetting, 80km horses must start by 9am or downgrade. 65km horses must start by 9.30am or downgrade. Pony club 55km riders must start by 9.30am. All other competitive horses must start before 11am, 36km pleasure riders must start before 11am, and 20km pleasure riders must start between 11am and 12pm. Please make sure the timekeeper has noted your number and start time. The timekeeper may ask to see your map - NO MAP NO START.

Pony club championship riders must attend the tack check official before starting.

The Route – Please remember it is your responsibility to ensure that the safety Check Point has noted your number. You will be eliminated if you have not been recordedat all the required checkpoints. The majority of the route will be marked with pink day glow tape, with arrows at turns. PLEASE make sure you close all gates after you.PLEASE NOTE THE ROUTES ARE NEW THIS YEAR PLEASE READ YOUR MAP BEFORE THE RIDE AND DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RIDE FROM MEMORY.Please be careful there may be low branches in places, streams have culverts which some horses may not be used to and of course the forest animals.

Emergencies – If you have an emergency, please report to the nearest safety checkpoint or ask another rider to do so for you, giving your exact location. Emergency numbers at the venue are 07748567205(Sarah) or on course07971 007315 (Simon). RAYNET are onsite for prompt attention, as mobile phones do not always work.

80Km + 65Km+55km pony club vet gate procedures

On arrival back at the venue present to vet hold steward (not timekeeper) you will be given a vet gate card with your TIME IN noted. However, the clock is not stopped until you present for vetting at the vetsteward who will write this time on the card as the Presentation to Vet time. You have up to 20 minutes from the TIME IN to present to the vet steward and go forward for vetting with your card, which you should hand to the vet writer.Should the horse fail this presentation on pulse (64 or less) you may present a second time provided it is within the 20 minutes. In the case of a second presentation the clock stop time is that of the successful second presentation.Remember to collectyour vet card from the vetwriter after vetting and give it to the vet steward again who will write your Earliest Time Out on it.The horse must then go in to the hold for the remainder of the 30 minutes, until your TIME OUT when you present back to the VetHold Steward WITH YOUR VET GATE CARD, tacked up and ready to continue.

End of ride procedure: On arrival at the timekeeper, you will be given a finish card with your Time in (finish time) and you must present for vetting within 30 minutes after the time in. Willful late presentation incurs penalties under Rule 3.4.3. Please allow at least 40 minutes after final vetting before going to the ride secretary to collect your rosettes, results and MasterCard. The technical steward and ride secretary will be very busy, so please be patient and take time to visit the catering van.

Farrier – there will be a farrier at the venue, they may not be able to leave the venue. Payment for additional farrier services are to be paid in full on the day.

Paramedic – A paramedic will be on site from 8am.

Treatment Vet –all of our ride vets can provide emergency treatment if required.

Please Note – This ride can only continue with the upmost cooperation from its riders and their crew and their awareness of other members of the public on the forest to enjoy a day out. Assume that everyone you meet is totally ignorant of equine behaviour and make allowances accordingly. Goodwill for the ride and for EGB in general can only be fostered by riders showing consideration for others, please slow down and walk past walkers etc., especially children and dogs and acknowledging their presence. Please be polite at all times. Any rider or their crew who is the subject of a complaint is very liable to elimination and will be refused entry to all further New Forest rides.

Hats – A hard hatwith the chinstrap securely fastened and must be of standardBritish PAS 015: 1998 or 2011 provided it is BSI Kite marked; European VG1 01.040: 2014-12 provided it is BSI Kite marked; American ASTM F1163: 2004a or 04a onwards provided it is SEI marked; SNELL E2001, Australian and New Zealand AS/NZS 3838: 2006 onwards provided it is SAI global marked.Pony club riders are required to have their hats tagged and must wear their medical armbands.

Whips must not be longer than 75cm (unless approved for use by a para rider). Spurs are not allowed in any class.Headcams must not be worn.

Disclaimer of liability - Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of any event to which these rules apply, nor the Endurance GB, nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies accept any responsibility for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land or any other person or property whatsoever caused by their negligence, breach of contract in any other way whatsoever.

Health & Safety – The Organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health & Safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must equally take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organiser and all Officials and Stewards. For future route planning please feedback any hazards on course that may result in a breach of health and safety or present as a possible risk to horse/rider. Thank you.

Reservation of Rights - The Organiser has the right to cancel the ride or any class, alter the advertised times or refuse any entry.

Crew Notes – (OL22) crewing is permitted as indicated on your map only – Strictly no crewing on any road verges, please crew at the identified crew points to avoid elimination.Please be aware that the forest is notorious for marker vandals, some of who think it is fun to not only move the markers, but to place them in a different location! Therefore it is important you read and carry your map. The safety checkpoints have RAYNETin attendance for your safety but they will not be able to provide you with any directional assistance, as that is your responsibility.
