JUNIOR SKIPPER’S KEELBOAT REGATTA 2016
NOTICE OF REGATTA
The Vaal Cruising Association is pleased to announce that the Junior Skipper’s Regatta will be held on Saturday 14th May 2016 and Sunday 15th May 2016.
Race Area
Racing will take place in or around the area of Aloe Fjord/North Bay, Vaal Dam.
Rules
The regatta will be sailed according to the 2013 – 2016 ISAF rules, the Northvaal Keelboat
Association regulations, the Regatta Notice and theRegatta Sailing Instructions.
Advertising
This is a Category C event.
Eligibility
Any class of keelboat with a current NKA handicap is accepted.
The helmsperson must not be older than 19 years of age on the 14th May 2016. The owner/owner’s representative may take part in crewing the yacht. There is no age restriction on the crew.A yacht must sail with the same number of crew each day.
Entry Fee
An entry fee of R100 per yacht will be charged and must accompany the completed entry form, which also includes an indemnity form, to be completed and signed by a parent/guardian of each competitor.
Closing date for entries is MONDAY the9thMay 2016.
Late payment (cost of R150) will be accepted at the committee boat up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
Schedule of Races
A maximum of eight races will be sailed and a minimum of four races will constitute a regatta.

No race will start after 13h30 on Sunday.
There will be one discard after four races and two discards after eight races.
Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be e-mailed or faxed to entrants and will also be available from the Bridge before the start of the first race on Saturday the 14th May 2016.
Course
A windward/leeward course will be set in the racing area.
Prizegiving
The Prize giving for the event will be held on Sunday 15th May 2016at approximately15h30 in
the VCA Clubhouse. Parents are encouraged to attend.
Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not acceptany liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained prior to, during or after the regatta.
General Information for parents.
Competitors and parents are more than welcome to spend the weekend at the VCA. We have a pool,TV room and pool table.
Bar facilities are available FOR ADULTS ONLY.
Braai fires will be available on Saturday evening. A breakfast will be served on Sunday morning forthose who have booked in advance, at a cost of R45 each.
Competitors must provide their own lunch on Saturday & Sunday.
Caravan & camping sites are available at no charge to competitors.
