Course Description:
This course provides an overview of the health services system in Belize. It introduces the organizational management concepts and the application of these concepts in analyzing strategic, managerial and financial issues within the health care system.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss the organization and structure of the health care system in Belize.
  2. Discuss how the organization and structure of the health care system influence the delivery of health services in Belize.
  3. Describe the health services workforce and illustrate how this affects the outcome/performances of the health care delivery system in Belize.
  4. Examine the financing of the health service system.
  5. Apply organizational theory to health care management.
  6. Describe the managerial theories and functions applied to general health care.
  7. Recognize managerial styles and behavioral issues and challenges posed across a variety of health care settings.
  8. Define the leadership role and how it is executed in health service system.
