JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Marketing Manager
Reports to:VP, Resource Development and Marketingor his/her designee
Location: 2515 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA / Division: Resource Dev./Marketing
Classification:Non-Exempt / Supervises:N/A
General Functions:
  • Assists in graphic design, copy writing, and publication printing consistent with United Way’s brand and graphic standards, as well as working with internal and external parties to ensure the marketing needs of the organization are met.
  • Assists in the development of email communications strategies, social media, and the United Way website to optimize CRM capabilities and content managementtools in order to build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and the public. This position supports the mission of United Way by researching, developing, integrating, maintaining and recommending interactive marketing strategies focusing on digital engagement.
  • Assists in direction and coordination of new channels of giving and engagement utilizing research, technology and traditional communications and fundraising methods including direct mail and special events. Provides internal and external marketing communications to support other departments as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The statements below reflect the items considered necessary to describe the essential functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.

  1. Work with the VP, Resource Development and Marketing to understand customer perceptions of United Way and utilize this information for marketing and communications strategies.
  2. Assist in the development of collateral/literature used to promote United Way.
  3. Assist in coordination and implementation of United Way special events.
  4. Work closely with Resource Development and IT to ensure suitable data is being captured to know our constituents’ needs as donors to United Way.
  5. Assist in website development.
  6. Assist with organization-wide visual communications including video production, photo shoots and computer-based slide presentations.
  7. Assist in creating compelling, multi-media content in support of engagement campaigns including web content, social media content, email content, mobile content, info-graphics and videos.
  8. Identify key market segments and opportunities to tailor messages to the key market segments.
  9. Support organizational information needs, gathering data and populating reports for Marketing metrics including web traffic, direct mail/ email campaigns, social and earned media results.
  10. Assist in managing the UW Facebook, Twitter and Instagram content calendar, edit and update posts, integrate content through additional marketing channels.
  11. Research and remain abreast of best practices as well as predicted trends and provide input to develop solutions that address current and anticipated future requirements.
  12. In collaboration with appropriate internal staff, create, distribute and track results for targeted email blasts and other communication strategies and tactics.
  13. Implement and manage measurement/analysis tools.
  14. Perform all responsibilities as assigned by Marketing Director.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  1. College degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, Marketing, or equivalent.
  2. Relative work experience in graphic design, web design/maintenance and social media management. Non-profit experience a plus.
  3. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  4. Experience in journalism or creative writing with ability to write and edit copy.
  5. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  7. Experience creating and implementing all aspects of special events a plus.
  8. Effective written and oral communications. Strong interpersonal, organization and time management skills.
  9. Proven comfort level working in a systems environment, with ability to learn and use new software and systems as required.
  10. High degree of professionalism that requires the use of courtesy, tact, and discretion.
  11. Able to work independently as well as the ability to actively contribute as a team member.
  12. Valid Louisiana driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and daily access to personal vehicle.
  13. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
  14. Able to work outside of normal business hours, nights or weekends, on special events/projects as needed.
  15. No outside business interests that might conflict with the goals and objectives of the organization without approval of the Vice President of Resource Development & Marketing.
