1.GENERAL

This section guides user through the configuration of UHthrough web-based visual aids for easier understanding.

1.1Hardware and Softwareof the UH– Hostless Dongle

The hardware and software requirements of UH are shown in the table below:-

2.ATTACHMENT OF DEVICE

Kindly follows the below steps for attaching the UH to the USB port of computer host as well as it’s driver installation.

  1. Attach the UHto the USB port of the computer and the driver will be installed automatically.
  2. Once its driver installed successfully, an additional Network adapter will appear on the Device Manager (in Window System) as following:
  1. Kindly type the ipconfig on the Command Prompt to check default gateway of the UT dongle. By default, its gateway address is 10.2.3.254 as below:
  1. Please use the ping command to check the connectivity between host and UT device. If the host can reach the UH device using the ping command, then the RNDIS device has succesffuly attached.

3.CONFIGURE Hostless UH DEVICE THROUGH WEB BROWSER

3.1.Overview

User could check the network and device information and connect/disconnect the WiMAX connection by browsing the device configuration interface via the default gateway address of the device

  1. WiMAX Status Info – Check the status of connectivity (e.g.: Frequency of the connected Base Station, Signal Strenght [RSSI], Link Quanlity [CINR] and etc.)
  2. LAN Info – IP address of the device gateway.
  3. WAN Info –Mac Address of UH Modem and details of WAN network (e.g.: public IP aAdress, WAN gateway, and etc.)
  4. Authentication Info – Username and Password that being used for establishing the WiMAX connection.
  5. Connect/Disconnect Button – To connect and disconnect the WiMAX connection.

3.2.WiMAX Configuration

The device and WiMAX configuration settings can be done by loggin to with the credential below:

Username: guest

Password: guest

Browse to Configuration > WiMAX tab to configure accordingly:

  1. Basic Connection Settings
  2. Frequency List Settings
  3. Authentication Settings

3.2.1.Connect Settings

User could set the connection of the device via checked box method.

  • Connect when started: Try to connect to WiMAX when the UH is plugged.
  • Reconnect when join net failed: Re-try for establish connection when network entry fails.
  • Reconnect on link lost: Reconnect when connection drop happens.

3.2.2.Frequnecy Settings

Frequency settings page allows uer to configure Frequency [kHz] and its bandwidth [MHz]for scanining the corresponding Base Station and its communication.

Press the Add button to add additional frequency items. After a new item is added, press the OK button to add it to the list of entries. Use the Trash Can icon to remove entries. Click the Save button to commit your changes.

Note:Frequency and Bandwidth setup is base on the local WiMAX license.

3.2.3.Authentication Settings

This Authentication Settings tab allows configuration of the authentication settings for the WiMAX network.

a)Four authentication modes from the Auth Mode – No authentication, User authentication, Device authentication or User and device authenticationare available to be choosen.

b)Choose the EAP type which your AAA is configured from EAP Method.Key in EAP Outer ID if required by AAA Server (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting).

c)Click Browse button at the ServerRoot CA Certificate and browse to the path where the CA Certificate is located. Check the box of Ignore Root CA Verify if verification of BS certificate can be skipped.

d)Click Browse button at the Device Certificate File and browse to the path where the Device Certificate is located (if Device Certificate is required for Authentication).

e)Click Browse button at the Device Private Key and browse to the path where the Private Key Certificate is located.

f)Key in the Private Key Password and it is required only when the Private Key File in (e) is encrypted (if Private Key Certificate and Key Password are required for Authentication).

g)Select the Inner Mode of the EAP Method and Key in User Name and Password configured in AAA.

Finally, click the Save button to activate the configured profile.

3.3.Base Station List

BS List page shows currently found base station information on the device. Pressing the Refresh button would trigger system re-scan.

This provides details of the RF condition of the detected Base Stations.

RSSI / Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) is a measurement of the power present in a received radio signal.
CINR / CINR refers to Carrier to Interference-plus-Noise Ratio. It gives you a measurement of signal effectiveness, taking into consideration the amount of signal interference.

3.4.WiMAX Statistics

WiMAX Statistics page shows current WiMAX statistics and status for reference purpose.

The information about the currently connected WiMAX network such as device, receiving signal strength and quality, transmit power and Modulation Code Schemefor UL and DL will be shown in the Link Status.

Link Satistics gives you a summary of the information transmit and receive packets as well as the amount of data transmited and receivedfor that connected session.

Mac Statistics provides the information of the Mac Layer information for both Uplink and Downlink.

3.5.System Log

System Log page is accessible via System > System Log and it shows log information in circular buffer of device. It only stores simple information in RAM and can be reset by re-plugging device or power cycle.

3.6.About Page

This page gives you a summary of info for UHHostless Device , such as Software version, Firmware version, Web Interface version, Device Serial Number, Flash Ext Info, and etc.
