Questions

Why the Great Dane and/or previous experience and/or describe your ideal Dane:

______

Previous experience is not necessary, but preferred as it gives us peace of mind that you know what you are getting yourself into – you may not necessarily have owned a Dane, but have helped with the upbringing of one of have even looked after one for a friend whilst they went on holiday!

Gender Chosen:______

Gender is an important choice to make, as not only do male and female Danes differ in size but they also differ in personality. Simple differences include, but are not limited to, boys tend to be more cuddly than girls, but do go through a “dominance” phase whilst females tend to be more bouncy and playful, but can be more “protective” – of course, it then differs upon the individual personality of the chosen puppy as well. Choose wisely!

Colour chosen:harlequin-black-mantle-merle

Colour seems to be more of an individual’s choice on aesthetic and what they prefer, but again temperament does seem to differ. Blacks tend to be more calm by nature and that then differs in comparison to the crazy harls and merles.

Other pets:______

Notifying us of other pets in your home not only tells us if you will have enough time to bring up a socially acceptable Dane puppy, but it also allows us to know if a Dane would be able to fit into the pet dynamic of your home – so don’t only tell us your other pets name and age/gender/breed, but also let us know a bit about their personality as well.

Children:______

Great Danes make an amazing family pet, however things to consider is accidents can happen! Whether that being the Dane accidentally knocking over your child in excitement or giving them a warning nip if your child gets too rowdy – is a Dane suitable around your child?

Will your puppy live inside or outside: inside-outside

By experience, a Great Dane is more like a child – you would not leave your child outside alone EVER – and so you shouldn’t a Dane. Danes are a companion breed and need to have human stimulation. If you are unable to provide an inside home for your Dane, then a Dane may not be the right breed for you.

Describe your puppy’s new home: ______

People believe Danes need ample space, and being a larger breed they do need a home that is able to accommodate their size, but the main thing that is necessary, is to know that your home is Dane proof – ie. High fences, fenced pool, baby gates, time away from home etc. A Dane needs a home that is able to understand them – which means, a large couch is more often than not, what is necessary.

Diet:______

Diet is an important aspect to consider in your Danes life, as an incorrect diet can have everlasting impacts on your Danes growth and lifestyle. What would you feed your Dane? How much would you expect to pay for food to feed your Great Dane in a week?

Exercise/training programme: ______

Exercise, or over exercising your Dane, can have disastrous effects on their growth, so how much would you expect to exercise your Dane and at what age would you start? What obedience or training would you do with your Dane puppy and with whom? Please include if you would like to compete with your Dane in agility etc.

Vet: ______

Please include in this section who your current vet is (As a reference), or where you will be taking your puppy too, as well as if you intent to insure your Great Dane puppy and with whom (all our puppies come with 6 weeks free pet insurance with PetPlan upon going home with their family)

Desexing: ______

At what age would you get your puppy desexed? What would you use as a precaution prior to being desexed to ensure your Dane does not sire a litter or become pregnant? Please note that our desexing protocol will be discussed upon meeting the family.
