CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT

Treat everyone with respect

Use appropriate language

Bring materials to class

Use class time efficiently

Respect the property of Rancho and of others

MATERIALS

Spiral notebook or similar notebook with a plastic or very thick cover and at least 90 lined pages (preferably college rule)

Pen, pencil, highlighter and gluestick

Textbook (bring to class only when instructed)

INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK

All assignments (class work and homework) will be glued in your spiral notebook.

The notebook will be turned in for each unit on the day of each test.

Assignments must be organized and glued in on the correct pages with pages numbered or you will not receive credit. Each notebook unit is worth 100 points. This must be brought to class daily with all current assignments.

GRADING AND SYMBOLS

I use symbols when grading notebook assignments (classwork and homework).

A PLUS symbol indicates the work is completed and meets the standard

A CHECKMARK PLUS symbol indicates the work is all or almost completed and is done to a high standard but may be missing a small detail

A CHECKMARK symbol indicates the work is mostly completed or more than half done and meets the standard.

A CHECKMARK MINUS symbol indicates that there is not much effort shown or the work is less than half complete or is below the standards.

A MINUS mark indicates the assignment is missing or does not meet the standards at all. It is equivalent to a zero.

Tests are worth 100 points. The Final Exam given at the end of the semester is worth 200 points.

GRADES

Grades are calculated using the Aeries online program. I use the standard grading scale. Points are added up and divided by the total. A plus or minus will be added to grades near the edge of the scale accordingly.

90%-100%=A

80%-89%=B

70-79%=C

60-69%=D

59% and below is a failing grade

MAKEUP WORK

It is your responsibility to make up any missed work following absences. If you have any questions regarding makeup work, I am available before or after school. Please don’t interrupt the current lesson to ask about past assignments. Makeup work is available in pouches on the back wall in the classroom. You need to complete the makeup work on your own. The only acceptable makeup work to copy are notes (from a presentation or video shown on the day of your absence). These will be posted on the back wall for your convenience.

If you need to make up a missed test due to an excused absence see me to make an appointment either before or after school to take the test. This should be done within ONE week of the test date. Missed tests that are not made up will receive a 25/100 score in Aeries.

LATE WORK

If you turn the notebook in late, ten points will be deducted for each school day late. Projects will not be accepted late.

WARNER DOLLARS

Warner dollars are bonus bucks given out in class for participation. You may staple them to tests for extra points. Each Warner dollar will give you one extra point. Warner dollars are your only chance for extra credit so participate often to boost your grade.

STRESSED OUT OR CONFUSED?

If you are having difficulties please drop by before or after school for extra help.
