Materials needed: graph paper, notebook paper, pencil, coloring utensils

Each part is worth a class grade.

Part 1: Reflection

Step 1: Using your graph paper, create a four quadrant coordinate plane. Use black for the x and y-axis.

Step 2: On the coordinate plane, create a figure using a minimum of 6 points. Color code that original figure green. Record the ordered pairs from the original paper on notebook paper.

Step 3: Reflect the original figure over the y-axis. Color code that figure blue. Record the ordered pairs from the y-axis reflection on notebook paper.

Step 4: Reflect the original figure over the x-axis. Color code that figure red. Record the ordered pairs from the x-axis reflection on notebook paper.

Part 2: Translation

Step 1: Using your graph paper, create a four quadrant coordinate plane. Use black for the x and y-axis.

Step 2: On the coordinate plane, create a figure using a minimum of 6 points. Color code that original figure green. Record the ordered pairs from the original paper on notebook paper.

Step 3: Translate the original figure up and right. You may choose how much to translate. Color code that figure blue. Record the ordered pairs from this translation on notebook paper.

Step 4: Translate the original figure down and left. You may choose how much to translate. Color code that figure red. Record the ordered pairs from this translation on notebook paper.

Part 3: Rotation

Step 1: Using your graph paper, create a four quadrant coordinate plane. Use black for the x and y-axis.

Step 2: On the coordinate plane, create a figure using a minimum of 6 points. Color code that original figure green. Record the ordered pairs from the original paper on notebook paper.

Step 3: Rotate that figure 90 degrees. Color code that figure blue. Record the ordered pairs from this rotation on notebook paper.

Step 4: Rotate the original figure 180 degrees. Color code that figure red. Record the ordered pairs from this rotation on notebook paper.

Part 4: Dilation

Step 1: Using your graph paper, create a four quadrant coordinate plane. Use black for the x and y-axis.

Step 2: On the coordinate plane, create a figure using a minimum of 6 points. Color code that original figure green. Record the ordered pairs from the original paper on notebook paper.

Step 3: Dilate the original figure using a scale factor greater than one. You may choose the scale factor. Color code that figure blue. Record the ordered pairs from this dilation on notebook paper.

Step 4: Dilate the original figure using a scale factor less than one. You may choose the scale factor. Color code that figure red. Record the ordered pairs from this dilation on notebook paper.

Final Project:

The final project will consist of 8 pages stapled in the order that is provided below. All graphs should be color coded using only green, blue, and red. All lists of the ordered pairs should be neatly written as shown in the examples.
