There are 24 bands at this year’s tournament, includingSt. Joseph Central, Oak Park, Raymore-Peculiar, Raytown, Oak Park, North Kansas City, Liberty, and Blue Springs South. There are some good bands, but I feel confident that you can do well not only in your class but in the overall standings as well. The band with the highest overall score will be named the Grand Champion. As a reminder, we are the defending Grand Champions at this competition and we have been for two years. What should our goal be this year? Set a goal, take the steps to achieve that goal, and be proud of your efforts.

Good Luck!

Because of our departure time and late performance, you are to be in uniform when we leave PCHS. You do not need to wear the coat or hat, but pants need to be on. Once we arrive on campus, we will gather equipment, put props together, and prepare to perform. Remember that the buses park on the west side of campus and the equipment trailers will park on the east side, by the stadium. At the end of our performance, we will take equipment to the semi and then go take our seats. There are four bands following us, so we will not a ton of time to get things loaded. Once the awards ceremony is over, we will return to the buses and change out of the uniforms quickly. Once we arrive home, everyone needs to help unload the trailers. As a reminder, clean the buses BEFORE you get off. We WILL NOT have rehearsal Wednesday morning following this performance.

PLEASE REMEMBER….

Uniforms MUST fit properly. Please make sure the pants are the correct length. They should hit at the top of the shoe. This is important. The way you wear the uniform and the way you act in uniform shows your pride in yourself and your school. Again, all silver instruments must be polished and only black marching shoes and LONG BLACK SOCKS are acceptable. It is your responsibility to make sure the uniform looks good on you. Nothing bothers me more than to see students wearing the uniform wrong or acting inappropriately in uniform.

Again, the buses are our homes, so keep them clean. Do not sit on the backs of the seats, keep the bus clean and do as the driver asks. When we return home, the buses will be inspected. Any bus not clean, will be assigned bus cleaning duty on the next trip. This is something you DO NOT want to do, so clean up after yourselves.

We have a TON of props and equipment this year. Please help out as much as you can. Do not sit around and expect the parents to work for you. It is YOUR show. The parents do an amazing job, but they are here to help you, not do the work for you. Additionally, when we eat, throw your trash away. We always leave our area cleaner than we find it. Even if it is not your trash, pick it up and throw it away. Again, the parents are not to pick up after you. That is your job. Do not throw water bottles or do anything I will consider immature. If you aren’t sure if I would consider it immature, it probably is!!
