BAND DUES

The mandatory band dues are part of the SIHS Band fundraising program. Our annual Band Booster budget supports the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Color Guard. Your student would not be able to experience the great opportunities that we offer without these Booster club funds. There may be a variation in fees charged by Band Directors within Iredell-Statesville Schools. These differences reflect community expectations and historical tradition of each band. Assistance for band fees is available. Please see your Band Director for an application. These applications will be reviewed by a panel which will include your school's principal (or designee), the Director of Secondary Education, the Deputy Superintendent and the Fine Arts Director.

THE BAND DUES ARE $110.00 .

These dues go towards:

  • Marching Band T-Shirt for studentMarching Band field show music, drill
  • Color Guard uniforms, equipment and Color guard routineMarching Band and Color Guard props
  • Equipment repairs and purchasesMarching Band uniform upkeep, cleaning and repair
  • MusicSpecial events and celebrations for studentsTransportation of students and equipment to events
  • CliniciansFees for competitions and contests

Band Dues must be paid in full by the first school day in September or on the following payment plan: $20 in August, $20 in September, $20 in October, $20 in November, $30 December.

Students will NOT be allowed to participate in any trips with the band until all Band Dues are paid in full.

If dues are not paid in full by December 1st, the student will not be eligible to participate in any trips or activities with the band until the balance is paid. Any balance in the student’s band account on December 1st will be used to pay off Band Dues. Any trip deposits or other money will go directly to unpaid dues. Band dues not paid by May will result in the student being put onthe school fees list (nor receiving report cards, next year’s schedule, or diploma.) Unpaid dues will carry over from previous years.

ALL CHECKS ARE MADE OUT TO SIHS BAND BOOSTERS.

Return checks will be charged with a $30.00 service fee.

Please be timely in all money matters. We do not wish that the student suffer because of an oversight.

STUDENT BAND ACCOUNTS

  • Each student has a band account held by the SIHS Band Boosters.
  • Money from fund-raisers and trips go into these accounts.
  • Students may use the money accumulated in their account towards band dues, trips, music, instrument repair, and instrument accessories.
  • The student’s account will remain open in that student’s name as long as that student has participated in the SIHS Band program in some aspect during a full school year. If a year has elapsed without the student’s participation in the SIHS Band program, that student’s account money will go into the SIHS Band Booster General fund.
  • Students may not draw out the money from their band account in the form of a check or cash. Money must be used as stated above.
  • Students who also have siblings in band, may transfer any balance to that sibling when that student graduates. Siblings must already be in band or will be in band within one school year.
  • Account balances are updated monthly and any student may inquire about their account balance.

FUND RAISING ACTIVITES

ALL CHECKS ARE MADE OUT TO SIHS BAND BOOSTERS.

We strive to have the best experiences possible with our band program and this requires an additional source of revenue that we raise through various fundraising activities. It would be wonderful to have an unlimited school budget to support all of our various activities and projects, but that is simply impossible considering the economic crisis we are experiencing in every area of education. By contributing and working in our band fund-raising projects, you allow the band to continue on its musical journey. We need to make some personal sacrifices along the way, but it is worthwhile in the long run. Fund-raising is only one small part of being a band member, but it a very important part. We depend on you to do your part to help us reach our financial goals so that we can reach our musical goals. Students will earn money through fundraisers that will go into their students accounts (explained above). Students MUST PICK UP FUNDRAISER ITEMS ON THE DATE THEY ARE DELIVERED TO THE SCHOOL. If a student does not pick up their fundraiser items on that date, the student will forfeit ALL profit earned, NO REFUNDS of ANY KIND will be made to the student or people who have purchased the fundraiser items, and it will be left up to the Band Director and the Band Booster Officers to decided what will be done with those fundraiser items. We cannot stress the importance of picking up your fundraiser items ON THE DAY they are delivered to the school.

BAND BOOSTERS

The SIHS Viking Band Booster Organization is designed to help support the South Iredell High School band program. Any parent or active supporter of the band may be a member of the SIHS Viking Band Boosters. Service projects of the boosters combine hard work and team cooperation to acquire the finances that enable the band to attend events that further their musical education. Working with the band program, the boosters can encourage and actively promote high standards of education and performance in music while at the same time fostering fellowship of teamwork of students within the band program. All parents are encouraged to get involved with the band program through membership in the Viking Band Booster Organization. They only way you can make a difference is to be there and to be active!!!
