You must choose 2 activities from tasks 1-4, then everyone needs to do task 5.

You should spend at least 8 hours on this project.

It needs to have (included or separately) a description of each part of the digestive system (including its function).

Mark out of 5 / Success Criteria
1 / Include a few organs from the digestive system.
2 / Include all digestive organs in the correct order.
3 / Simply describe the job of each organ.
4 / Describe how large molecules are broken down into smaller ones.
5 / Explain how food is digested, absorbed and transported to the cells using the big idea of particles.

Task Two

Write the story of a piece of pizza travelling through the digestive system.

Include information about any enzymes, chemicals or organs involved.

Mark out of 5 / Success Criteria
1 / State a few organs from the digestive system.
2 / Your story describes the journey of the food through all digestive organs
3 / Simply describe the job of each organ
4 / Describe how enzymes break large molecules down into smaller ones.
5 / Explain how food is digested, absorbed and transported to the cells using the big idea of particles.

Task Three

Research

Write an ideal diet for an athlete. You should explain why each food has been included.

Mark out of 5 / Success Criteria
1 / State the different food groups.
2 / State why it is important to eat a balanced diet.

Carbohydrates / Fats / Proteins

2 / I can name all of the organs of the digestive system.
3 / I can sort foods into their food groups.
4 / I can describe the jobs of the main digestive organs.
5 / I can explain the role of enzymes in digestion.

Task Five

You need to make a presentation to show the rest of your class what you have been working on.

It can be on PowerPoint, but doesn’t have to be.

If you have made a model and written a story, you can show those.

Whether you use PowerPoint or not, you need to practice your presentation, so you know exactly what you are going to say.

It should last between 2 and 3 minutes.

Mark out of 5 / Success Criteria
0 / No presentation.
