Expanded Support towards Participants Course fees in Kerry

North, East & West Kerry Development Partnership (NEWKD) have agreed again in 2016 to commit a significant grant support and to collaborate with SHEP in offering the SACE programme in Kerry. This support greatly expands the range of possible options towards course fees that can be extended to applicants. The total cost of the SHEP Cert in Social Awareness and Community Empowerment course (2016) is €450 and there are now three options available to Kerry applicants as regards support for this course fee.

Option One– No Charge Rate for NEWKDsupported applications from certain areas

  • The NEWKD grant supportsa limited number of fully subsidised places for residents of the following areas
  • Tralee: Shanakill, Rahoonane, Rath Oraigh, Muing, Mitchel’s Boherbee Community
  • Ballyduff: Benmore Estate
  • Listowel: Feale Drive, O’Connell’s Avenue
  • Dingle: Ard na Greine, Ballyferriter
  • Castleisland: Cahereens West and An Caislean Mor
  • In return for the fully funded places, NEWKD are looking for individuals from these areas to act as community liaison volunteers to help support the development of their community

Option Two – Reduced Fee of €250

  • A number of reduced fee places of €250 will be available. Please read carefully the accompanying information sheet ‘Important Information on SHEP Fees, Reduced Fees & Payment Methods as it contains important information on deposit refunds, eligibility criteria for reduced fees and other special payment arrangements.

Option Three – Full Fee €450 (i.e. where neither of the above rates are being sought)

  • The normal fee of €450 applies.

For Options Two and Three only, abooking deposit of €50applies (made payable to The Social and Health Education Project), and should accompany this form. No applications will be accepted without the deposit. When a place is offered, and before the course begins, the remainder of the fee should be paid. For those who wish, special arrangements may be made to spread payments over the duration of the course.

For full fee and reduced fee places, you are advantaged by applying early.

A Certificate of Successful Completion will be awarded on satisfactory completion of the course.

Completion of both the SHEP Certificate in Personal Development and the SHEP Certificate in Social Awareness and Community Empowerment foundation courses is necessary for entry to the Facilitation and Specialised Practitioner Training courses run by SHEP. Admission to these courses will be subject to availability of places and selection will be on the basis, both of the quality of involvement in the Foundation Courses, and of the nature of the voluntary or professional work with people that applicants are engaged in (or plan to be engaged in).
