Dates of Meet

/ Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th, 2015
Location / The pool is located in the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center on the Busch Campus at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. The Center’s main number is 732-445-0460. This number is for emergencies only. All calls regarding this meet should be directed to the Meet Director.
Facility Information /
  • The Werblin competition pool is a 50 meter, 8-lane pool with a minimum depth for diving of 6 feet.
  • There are two auxiliary pools, known as “patio pools” (for warm-up and warm-down).
  • There is seating for approximately 1,000 spectators, including 400 chair-backed seats. The remaining seating is bleacher style.

Pool Certification Statement / The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming.
Audio/Visual Recording Statement / Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.
USA Swimming Deck Change Policy / Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited.

Entry Deadline /
  • Deadline Date: Friday, June 12th, 2015, or when meet is filled.
  • All entries will be accepted on a first-come basis. Meet Entries will be taken until the meet fills.
  • Certain sessions may close earlier than others based on athlete subscription. In accordance with NJ Swimming Policy, the host club will be required to insure that no session exceeds four hours in length.
  • A team’s entry fee summary, verification forms, waiver release, and fees must be delivered to the control room no later than the first session in which that team has swimmers. A team without swimmers in the Friday Prelim Session will be permitted to submit its waiver and entry fees later in the day/meet, but these items must be received before the start of the session in which that team has its first swimmer(s) entered.

Meet Format
Waiver / The host club has the right to change the format of the meet with the approval of the sanctioning chairman and either the age group or senior chairman. These changes would be made for a more efficient swim meet for the swimmers and the host club. Reasons for these changes include: to allow more swimmers to swim, to conform to facility capacity limits or severe weather that would require restructuring of a session.
Meet Requirement Statement / In order to be eligible for the New Jersey SwimmingZone Championship Team or for New JerseySwimming National Championship Travel Grants, NJ Swimming policy stipulates certain participation requirements. As a New Jersey Swimming sanctioned meet, this meet counts towards these participation requirements.

Coaches’ Eligibility /
  • All coaches on the deck must be currently registered coach members of USA Swimming.
  • Coaches must show coaching card for entrance to facility.
  • Coaches must be in possession of their current coaches card at all times.

Swimmer Eligibility /
  • All swimmers must have times faster than the meet qualifying time standards. Entry times may be submitted in long course meters or yards. Note that there are separate qualifying times for yard entries and that they will be seeded as “non-conforming” for the preliminaries/finals events.
  • Teams may not use converted times for entries.
  • Age as of Meet:The age for this meet is calculated as of June 26th, 2015.
  • All swimmers must be members of USA Swimming to enter and compete in this meet.
  • All swimmers must be included in a team’s official meet roster in the meet database to be eligible to participate in this swim meet in any event including relays.
  • All transfer swimmer(s) must swim unattached for 120 days from their last attached competition. Swimmers must use an UN-(New Team Alpha Code) as their team affiliation. All Unattached swimmers must be listed on the team’s official waiver entry form.
  • There will be 10Under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-Overand Open events.
    13-14 & 15-Overevents will be combined in the prelim session, but each willhave their own A and B heats at finals.
Individual and Relay Event Limits:
  • New Jersey Swimming Policy allows swimmers to compete in 3 individual events per day. Swimmers may enter as many events as they wish, but can race a maximum of three individual events per day.
  • Swimmers entered in more than three events per day who fail to scratch down to three events will be entered in their first three events in numerical order.
  • Swimmers may compete in 2 (two) relay events per day.

USA-S Racing Start Certification Statement / Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.

  • This meet will be run in accordance with current USA Swimming Rules.
  • This meet will be deck seeded with coaches checking in and scratching all swimmers. When the seeding has been posted, swimmers will report to the blocks.
  • All prelims/finals events will be seeded with yards times seeded as non-conforming and after all meter times.
  • The USA Swimming Championships Scratching From Finals rule ( 207.11.6.D & E) will be in effect. (Further details specified in the NJ Swimming Policies Manual.)
  • This meet will be run as a prelim/finals meet for 13-14 and 15-Over swimmers.
  • Morning Prelims will be run as combined 13&Over Events in the interests of time.

  • Evening sessions will feature two (2) heats of finals for all 13-14 and 15-Overindividual events (except for the 800/1500, where only one Heat will compete during Sunday Finals)
  • This meet will be run as a timed final meet for 10Under and 11-12 swimmers.
  • The Women’s 800 and Men’s 1500 Freestyle events will be timed finals in a separate session following the Sunday morning Preliminaries, with the fastest heat of each event being contested during the Sunday evening Finals.
  • The 13-14 and Open 200 Medley & Freestyle Relay events will be swum as timed finals in the evening finals session only. The top two heats of the Open 400 Free, 800 Free, and 400 Medley relays will be contested during the evening finals session. Additional heats (teams seeded 17th and higher) will be contested at the conclusion of the morning preliminaries session.
  • The building will open at 7:10am

Heat-Limited Events /
  • The 400 Freestyle and 400 IM for 13/0vers will be limited to sessions of no more than 2 hours.
  • The 800 and 1500 Freestyle events will be limited to no more than 6 heats per event (including the fastest heat to be swum during the Sunday Evening session).
  • The Women’s & Men’s 10Under 400 Freestyle, the Women’s & Men’s 11-12 400 Freestyle, and the Women’s & Men’s 11-12 400 IM will be limited to an average of 5 (five) Heats per event if needed.
  • All measures will be taken to allow the maximum number of swimmers to participate, and heats may be combined to save time necessary. Genders may not be separated by an empty lane.
  • Psych sheets for these Heat Limited events will be posted when all entries are received. Swimmers who do not get into these events will either receive a refund or may select another event.

Warm-up Procedures /
  • All teams will be given equal warm-ups; 30 minutes for 13 & Over sessions, 25 minutes for 12 & Under sessions.
  • Warm-ups will be run under New Jersey Swimming Warm-up and Safety Guidelines. Warm-ups will include general warm-up lanes, sprint lanes, and pace lanes.
  • All swimmers are entitled to a fair and comparable warm-up. All teams must receive the same opportunities for general warm-up lanes, sprint lanes, and pace lanes.
  • All swimmers must enter the pool from the starting end of the pool.
  • Host Team Monitoring Warm-ups: Uniformed and designated meet marshals will monitor warm-ups.
  • All general warm-up lanes will swim in a counterclockwise direction.
Warm-up Schedules:
  • The warm-up sessions will be two 25/30-minute periods divided by teams. There will be designated sprint/pace lanes during the last 10 minutes of each warm-up period.
  • Warm-up schedules will be e-mailed and posted on the websites at least 1 week prior to the first day of the meet
  • Warm-up for the 800/1500 events will be in the patio pool if necessary.

Check-In: /
  • All check-in sheets must be turned into the control room 35 minutes before the start of each session (20 minutes prior for the 13-over 400 Free and 400 IM sessions). Swimmers who are swimming will have a line through their name. Swimmers who are being scratched will have their names circled with “SCR” next to the circle. Swimmers scratching a single event will have a line through his/her name and the event number circled with “SCR” next to the circle.
  • Failure to follow this procedure mayresult in the swimmer(s) being scratched from the session/event.
  • All distance events(800/1500) will have a positive check-in posted in the control room.
  • All relay events will have a positive check-in posted in the control room
  • Swimmers/Relays who are not properly checked in maybe scratched from the session.

Scratches /
  • This meet will be deck seeded with coaches checking in and scratching all swimmers. When the seeding has been posted, swimmers will report to the blocks
  • The meet will follow USA Swimming rule 207.11.6.D and rule 207.11.6E for scratches from finals.
  • A swimmer who fails to scratch from finals within the deadlines outlined in rule 207.11.6E and fails to compete in that final will be barred from further competition for the remainder of the meet.
  • In addition, the club of a swimmer who qualifies for finals or consolation finals and fails to compete in that final during the last session of the meet shall be fined $50 for each occurrence.

Starts /
  • The host club will determine if overhead starts will be used after a time line has been produced. This information will be e-mailed and posted in the pre-meet information.

Distance Events
(800/1500 Free) /
  • The Women’s 800 and Men’s 1500 Freestyle will be timed finalsevents, with the Top Heat of each event competing during the Sunday evening Finals.
  • The remaining heats of these events will swim in a separate session at the conclusion of the Sunday morning Prelims.
  • These earlier heats will be contested fastest to slowest, alternating heats of Women’s 800 and Men’s 1500. Heats may be combined if necessary, and genders may not be separated by an empty lane.
  • Note that there are separate qualifying times for 14 & Under and 15 & Over swimmers for these events. However, each of these events will be contested and scored as a single, combined ages, Open event.
  • Swimmers must provide their own timer and lap counter.
  • Proof of time is required for entry into these events.

Relays /
  • Coaches must turn in relay cards prior to that relay swimming, listing correct swimmers names and correct order.
  • There is a limit of three relays (A,B,C) per club/per event.
  • There will be a positive check-in for relays in the control room during the morning sessions.
  • All heats of the 13-14 and Open 200 relays will be in the finals session only.
  • For all 400 and 800 relays, the top two heats will be in finals.

Scoring /
  • Team scoring will be kept. 16 place scoring will be 20-18-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 and double for relays.

Awards /
  • Medals will be awarded to the top 3 swimmers in each individual event.
  • Medals will be awarded to the top 3 relays in each relay event.

Results /
  • All Teams will be e-mailed a HyTek TM Results File following the meet. Results will also be posted on the three meet web sites (see Web Site section for details)
  • Real time results will also be available at

Admissions and

Programs /
  • Admission will be $7.00 per session.
  • Cost of Program will be $10.00 for the entire meet. (This does not include session heat sheets.)
  • Heat sheets will be available for the morning and afternoon sessions at a cost of $3.00 each.
  • Entry to evening finals will be $7.00. Finals heat sheets will be gratis—one per family while supply lasts.

Host Club
Responsibilities /
  • The host club will provide a single timer in each lane throughout the meet.
  • The host club will have stopwatches available for volunteers helping to time.
  • The host club will e-mail all club entries back to the participating clubs that are received via email.
  • The host club will create a warm-up schedule that will be fair and equal to all teams. This warm-up schedule will be e-mailed to all participating clubs and posted on the meet web sites no later than one week before the meet.
  • The host club will create timing assignments that are fair and equitable with as many teams participating as possible. These timing assignments will be e-mailed to all participating clubs and posted on the meet web sites no later than one week before the meet.

Participating Club
Responsibilities /
  • Participating clubs must help with timing assignments. Timing assignments will be e-mailed to participating clubs and posted on the swim meet websites one week prior to the meet.
  • Participating club parents must stay off the pool deck except for timing assignments.
  • Participating clubs should help with officiating whenever possible. List the club contact for club officials on the meet waiver form.

Concessions /
  • Rutgers University will be providing refreshments in the lobby.

Vendor /
  • A swim shop vendor will be onsite during the meet.

Order of Events /
  • 13 & Over events will be swum in the order below.
  • All heats of the 13-14 and Open 200 relays will be in the finals session only.
  • For all 400 and 800 relays, the top two heats will be in finals.
  • The 1500/800 freestyles will be timed finals events. The fastest seeded heat of the 800/1500 events will swim during the evening finals. All other heats of the 800/1500 events will swim in a separate session after the morning prelims on Sunday.

Interstate 287 Turn off at Exit 9 Bound Brook/Highland Park. Proceed East on River Road towards Highland Park. Continue on River Road and you will pass under the overpass for Route 18. Turn left at the next traffic light onto North. Take the next exit on Route 18 North, Campus Road. Follow Campus Road to a traffic circle. Turn right at the traffic circle onto Bartholomew Rd. The Recreation Center is on your left.

Rutgers will have posted signs indicating which of the parking lots are for the swim meet. Please use one of these lots. Rutgers campus police may ticket automobiles that are parked in lots other than those designated for the swim meet!
