Salary / SFC L2-5 £46,223-49,311 (pro-rated), depending upon experience and prior salary
2-3 days per week negotiable

Purpose of the job

To foster and facilitate active collaboration among Wessex Group Sixth Form Colleges to improve the quality of educational provision for students.

Key responsibilities

  • To identify forms of activity where collaboration will improve the experiences of students in member sixth form colleges and to act as a catalyst in ensuring that these activities take place
  • To deliver on the priorities of the Wessex Group as defined by the Wessex Principals on an annual basis
  • To cultivate and maintain beneficial relationships with outside bodies, such as exam boards, on behalf of the partnership
  • To line-manage the part-time Partnership Administrator

The Manager will:

  • Lead high impactevents for the Wessex Group(such as curriculum curriculum meetings and conferences focussed on sharing excellence).
  • Prepare reports on expenditure and activity for the Principals’ Meeting.
  • Prepare an Annual Report on the work of the Wessex Group, assess its impact and make recommendations for future, costed priorities.
  • Service the Principals’, and VP (Curriculum) networks and Staff Development networks, including agenda preparation, scheduling, minute/report writing, liaising with external speakers and creating shared document systems where appropriate.
  • Lead and maintain the successful Wessex Group Leadership Programmes including design (in conjunction with the Wessex Executive Group for Leadership Programmes), briefing, publicising and liaising with delegates and speakers, venue planning, costing and budget management, mentor programmes, supporting mentors, master classes.
  • Manage the Wessex Group Peer Quality Review programme and supporting the PQR Steering Group.
  • Manage the Wessex Training for Teachers Programme and supporting the WTT Steering Group.
  • In liaison with Chair, respond to national policy on behalf of Wessex Group.
  • Lead ad hoc events.
  • Manage the Wessex Group website content and liaise with appropriate externals for development work.
  • Respond appropriately to enquiries.
  • Contribute where appropriate to training offered by the Wessex Group.
  • Contribute to the elimination of unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation; advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Prioritise the safeguarding of all students and participate in training on safeguarding matters.

Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Chair.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • First degree or equivalent

Knowledge

  • The SFC/FE sector
  • The sixth form college ethos
  • Policy developments at national level affecting the post-16 sector
  • Quality assurance within a college context

Experience

  • Proven success at working at a strategic level
