II TIMOTHY 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

ISRAEL.AT.KADESH.BARNEA.title JEFF.IN IC 97-128 53-0328 26 015 The greatest thing that I find against the church tonight is fear; everybody's scared to death about something. What are you scared about? If a man's borned again, he should be happy, carefree, just like these fellows singing up here, and the brother testifying back there, just free. There ain't nothing can harm you. Nothing present, nothing future, nothing can separate us from the love of God that's in Christ. God has promised.

“The greatest thing that I find against the church tonight is fear.

E-26 026 There's only two faculties that govern a human, and one of them is faith, which brings results; and the other is fear, which has no value in it at all. Faith is of God. Fear is of the Devil. Fear makes you weary; fear makes you wonder.

Fear is mentioned 385 times in your Bible Another 189 times the word–‘afraid’ is spoken of.

The phrases “fear not” or “fear ye not” or “ye shall not fear” “fear no evil” “nor be afraid” or “not be afraid” another —101 times—So almost 600 times the Bible draws your attention to some kind of fear. Brother B. mentioned ‘fear’ or ‘fright’ almost 3000 times!!

LUKE 21:26 Men's ‘hearts [would be]failing’ them for ‘fear’,

Fear here is ‘phobos’…. or “that which strikes terror“

Phobos is the Greek word we get our English word—Phobia. A phobia refers to a panic that is completely out of proportion to the perceived threat behind it.

The dictionary defines a phobia as-- An intense persistent, abnormal, and irrational or illogical fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid the feared stimulus despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous. A strong fear, dislike, or aversion. It is an exaggerated and often disabling fear usually inexplicable or baffling or incomprehensible or mysterious to the subject and having sometimes a logical but usually an illogical or symbolic object.

The Discovery Channel a while back did a story on the Top Ten Phobias that people have.

#10: Necro--phobia. The fear of death---they concluded that it causes some people to worry so much about dying that they have very little quality of life.

#9: ‘Bronto—phobia….. the terror/fear of thunderstorms.

One summer night during a severe thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small son into bed. She was about to turn the light off when he asked in a trembling voice, "Mommy, will you stay with me all night?" Smiling, the mother gave him a warm, reassuring hug and said tenderly, "I can't dear. I have to sleep in Daddy's room." A long silence followed. At last it was broken by a shaky voice saying, "The big sissy!"

Brother Branham told a similar story…..

MIGHTY.GOD.UNVEILED_ PHIL.PA V-3 N-22 MONDAY_ 64-0629 20-5 Said, "Now, you must bear this in mind. We go to church constantly; we read the Bible; we pray; we are a Christian family; we believe in God." And said, "We believe that in storms and whatever goes on, God is our protection." He said, "Mama, I believe every bit of that," but said, "when that lightning so close," he said, "I want a God with skin on it." So I think, not only Junior, but all of us feel that way.

#5: Claustro—phobia…. the fear of being trapped in a small confined space.

#4: Agora--phobia ….the fear of open places.

#3: Aero—phobia…. the fear of flying.

#1:Arachno-phobia, or the fear of spiders!..... is the number #1 fear of people, affecting half of all women, and one out of 10 men.

Psychologists tell us that there are actually over 530 types of phobia’s or ‘phobic disorders’ or ‘phobic neurosis’ that they’ve discovered in their treatment of people over the years.

Some of the more obscure phobia’s….

My--so--phobia.---the fear of dirt.

The fear of Anything new- Neo--phobia.

The fear of becoming Bald, - Phal—acro--phobia

The fear of Animals- Zoophobia.

The fear of wild animals—agri—zoo—phobia

Remember what we read in that book on wild animals? If you stand perfectly still and look the lion in the eye, he will turn and run." "Sure," said the other fella. "You've read the book, and I've read the book. But has the lion read the book?"

Ecclesio--phobia and homi—lo--phobia--- these are the fear of church and the fear of sermons.

One author writes that fear is “the oldest and strongest emotion of mankind.”

Corrie Ten boom once said… “In my times of fear I don’t wrestle, I nestle!-- drawing so close to my Lord and Master that I feel his continual shelter and protection.”

Apostle Paul admitted to having “fears within.”

II CORINTHIANS 7:5“For when we came into Macedonia we had not rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings; within were fears.”

Moses struggled with the same things. --Leah in the Bible had a fear of rejection. Job had various fears---Elijah had fears---

Humans are born with only two inherent/basic fears? loud noises and unexpected falling! All other fears are learned or developed at some time in our lives.

God has not given us a ‘spirit of fear’------but rather He’s given us the spirit of love, power and ‘a sound mind’.

There are about 6 variations of the Hebrew word translated “sound mind” —it generally means –(to be) in control of your senses, to be sane, to be sober, to be temperate…. It speaks of one who is able to curb his desires or impulses. It speaks of a call to moderation and self-control.

LUKE 21:26 Men's ‘hearts failing’ them for ‘fear’, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

HEBREWS 12:26 Whose voice then shookthe earth [Moses]: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

HEBREWS 12:27 And this [word], Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Shaking-- to ‘cast down from your secure and happy state; to overthrow; to move, agitate the mind, to disturb……….and it’s only “ those things which cannot be shaken may remain”.

II THESSALONIANS 2:2 (I would …….) That ye be not soon shaken in “mind”, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Various versions interpret this verse this way–

”Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled or disturbed or kept excited or alarmed,”--- “Do not let your minds be easily upset. Do not be troubled by a spirit,”

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University reported that 30 years ago, the greatest fears of grade school children were: 1) Animals, 2) Being in a dark room, 3) High places, 4) Strangers, 5) Loud noises.------

The top 5 things today that kids are afraid of… 1) Divorce, 2) Nuclear war, 3) Cancer, 4) Pollution, 5) Being mugged or kidnapped.

Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin so feared for his safety that his residence in Moscow contained eight bedrooms---- Each night Stalin chose a different bedroom at random to ensure that no one knew exactly where he was sleeping. The reason..Fear!

During World War II, a military governor met with General George Patton in Sicily. When he praised Patton highly for his courage and bravery, the general replied, "Sir, I am not a brave man. . . The truth is, I am an utter craven coward. I have never been within the sound of gunshot or in sight of battle in my whole life that I wasn't so scared that I had sweat in the palms of my hands." Years later, when Patton's autobiography was published, it contained this significant statement by the general: "I learned very early in my life never to take counsel of my fears."

What is fear?

Number 1-- Fear is a perceived real, tangible experience for the humans that experience them, the origin of which you do not perceive that you are in control of-- fear does occur for most humans---- you simply wait for the precise circumstances to appear. You wait for the mugger; you wait for the rejection; you wait for the disease to establish itself in your body…………..

Author and motivational speaker Zig Ziglar says : FEAR is:False Evidence Appearing Real!

Second, “fear is a creation of the human mind. It only exists for the reason that you allow it to exist. If you allow fear into existence, then there is the provability that you are capable to determine for it not to exist.”

Charles Allen writes in his book “ Victory in the Valleys. “5-year old Johnny was in the kitchen as his mother made supper. She asked him to go into the pantry and get her a can of tomato soup, but he didn't want to go in alone. "It's dark in there and I'm scared." She asked again, and he persisted. Finally she said, "It's OK--Jesus will be in there with you." Johnny walked hesitantly to the door and slowly opened it. He peeked inside, saw it was dark, and started to leave when all at once an idea came, and he said: "Jesus, if you're in there, would you hand me that can of tomato soup?"

#1…we’ve got to identify our fears

#2 overcomeour fears—eliminate them…..get deliverance from them….lest they seize control and paralyze us in these various areas of our lives.

It happened to Job------

JOB 3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

JOB 3:26 I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came..”

Fear actually became a creative force that brought the problem to him...The thing he feared…..For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

New Life Version25What I was afraid of has come upon me. What filled me with fear has happened.

The Christian Standard Version -For the thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.

Contemporary English Version25and my worst fears have all come true.

QUESTIONS.AND.ANSWERS_ JEFF.IN COD SUNDAY_ 64-0830E 1159-Q-389 389. When a person realizes he has an inferior complex, or some sort of complex, how may he overcome this?………

Number 1-- he/she recognizes he has a ‘complex’--- A complex is “an exaggerated or obsessive concern or fear.”

A psychoanalyst would tell you that a complex is “a combination of emotions and impulses that have been ‘rejected from awareness’ but still influence a person's behavior” –.. Sometimes you’re not even aware you have it………it has been ‘rejected from awareness’ but still influences a person's behavior.

Number 2 he wants to do something about it –he wants to overcome it.—he’s tired of it—he doesn’t want to live with it anymore---he wants to overcome this thing--- —He knows that Satan put that fear on that person and he knows that God wants to deliver him/her from it.

(Brother B)….“Take exactly the opposite.……..turn right back around and give everything you got the other way. If you're selfish and you want to hold everything, then start giving away what you got. See? Do whatever--just go the vice versa. That's the way to overcome anything is an antidote.’….. (He continues in the next paragraph)—“Take the very vice versa from it.”

OVERCOME---to defeat (another) in competition or conflict; conquer; to prevail over; To triumph over the opposition; be victorious; to render powerless; win a victory over; deal with successfully ---

Just take the opposite!...... He’s telling us that your fears will control you if you don’t overcome them-----—you’ve got to be willing to overcome your fears!

MARRIAGE.OF.THE.LAMB_ PHOENIX.AZ SUNDAY_ 62-0121E E-28 If you notice, it said, "She has made herself ready." So many says, "If the Lord will take this evil spirit from me, from drinking, or from gambling, or from lying, or stealing, I'll serve Him." But that's up to you. You got to do something too. "They that overcome shall inherit all things," they that overcome. You have power to do it, but you must be willing to lay it down. (how about laying down your fears?) See? She has made herself ready. I like that Word.

Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones….. recognized by many to have been one of the finest British preachers of the twentieth century and was minister of Westminster Chapel, London, from 1938 until 1968.

“When a man is defeated by life it is always due, ultimately, to the fact that he is suffering from a spirit of fear...The spirit of fear is the real, the ultimate cause of all failure in life, and of all unhappiness.”(repeat)….Quite a statement.

SHOW.US.THE.FATHER.IT'LL.SATISFY_ CONNERSVILLE. IN WEDNESDAY_ 53-0610 E-83 …..You must be willing to ‘whatever it is’, lay aside every weight that doth ‘easily besets you’ and run the race with patience.

Beset- To attack from all sides----to trouble persistently; harass --to hem in; surround.

God wants to bring you to A Total Deliverance from everything that’s got you bound!

Deliverance--- It’s the rescue from bondage or danger.

CONVINCED.AND.THEN.CONCERNED_ CHICAGO.IL MONDAY_ 62-0521 E-30 We must be willing and open to receive God, and ‘whatever God's got for us’, with an open heart. We must receive it if God has promised us a total deliverance—where do we stand if we come short of it?)

total - complete, absolute; including everything without conditions or limitations; complete in extent or degree and in every particular;

TOTAL.DELIVERANCE_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-1 SUNDAY_ 59-0712 45 I was thinking on this subject of "A Total Deliverance." The Church has been in the minority; it always will be in members until Jesus comes. But it's living under its God-given privileges. If we only knew, this is the Church of the living God……..

TOTAL.DELIVERANCE_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-1 SUNDAY_ 59-0712 77 See, "If our hearts condemn us." We want complete deliverance. We don't want to be a halfway church. We want to be a real church, or no church at all. We want to be real Christians, or no Christians at all. We want total deliverance from our habits, from our sins, from our evil thinking, from our evil doing, from our negligence, whatever we've done. We want total deliverance.

TOTAL.DELIVERANCE_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-1 SUNDAY_ 59-0712 92 All Jesus' works was complete; everything was complete, total delivered. He totally delivered the leper from leprosy. He totally delivered the woman with the blood issue from her issue. He totally delivered the world from sin, when He died at the day of the atonement. He totally delivered every sin. He delivered the church. So there's no need for us to live underprivileged people. There's no need for us to live in a defeated state, because He defeated the Devil and took all the principalities and powers and subdued them under His feet, and they have no legal rights to rule over you.[how about your fears that rule over you?] We are Christians, filled with the Holy Ghost. We don't have to have the Devil dictate to us. (or his fears).Christ delivered us: total deliverance, delivered us from evil, delivered us from sin, delivered us from habits, delivered us from talking, delivered us from blackguard (?), delivered us from all kinds of smutty things. He totally delivered us and put us into His holy hands, a complete, total deliverance……..The Devil is defeated. We want total deliverance.

TOTAL.DELIVERANCE_ JEFF.IN V-11 N-1 SUNDAY_ 59-0712 98 Dear God, You don't take things unless it's totally delivered. (How about the bride ---will He take us in a rapture filled with fears and worries and doubts and insecurities….?)…You don't take things unless it's totally delivered…You cannot receive a sacrifice with a blemish on it……. for we want a complete and total deliverance from anything, Lord, that would keep us from being the light of the world, a candle that's set on a hill, not a bushel over it, but a candle that sets on the hill, that gives light to guide people's feet in the way that's right. Grant it, Father
