THE AGENCY AGREES:

  • To provide the intern with appropriate orientation to the organization, and the training, guidance and resources needed to carry out assignments; To provide regular supervision and feedback to the intern;
  • To allow the intern access to meetings, information, documents and activities of the organization that will enhance her general understanding of its work and of the policy process, and will support her preparation of written class assignments, including (if applicable) preparation of case study materials;
  • To communicate to the Women's Studies Program, in a timely fashion, any difficulties arising from this agreement that cannot be resolved with the intern;
  • To provide the intern and the Women's Studies Program with a final placement evaluation in a format to be provided by the Women's Studies Program; and
  • If applicable, to allow the student to use your organization for the case study assignment and to have an appropriate person in your organization read and provide written comments on the student's case study by an agreed upon time.

For the case study, the student will write a 25+ page paper analyzing some aspect of the placement organization based on observation, interviews, and written material. The organization will have an opportunity to read, correct any factual inaccuracies, and make comments on the paper. Someone in the placement organization must agree to read and comment on the case study.

THE INTERN AGREES:

  • To work the hours agreed to over the course of this placement on tasks/projects assigned;
  • To meet work standards and schedules established with the supervisor;
  • To represent the sponsor and the program in a professional manner, and to protect the confidentiality of information obtained as an intern;
  • To participate in the Practicum Seminar, and complete assignments for that course;
  • To bring to the attention of the Women's Studies Program Practicum Professor, in a timely fashion, any difficulties arising from this agreement that cannot be resolved with the supervisor or need to be renegotiated.

THE WOMEN'S STUDIES PROGRAM AGREES:

  • To provide materials, guidance, and training in the practicum seminar that will support the student in her/his internship role and aid in preparation of class assignments.
  • To provide appropriate liaison between the Women's Studies Program, agency staff and intern, including a format for the final evaluation.
