September, 2016

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to attend Back to School Night. It is always a good opportunity for parents to meet the faculty and get to hear first-hand what the year will entail for their children. Our faculty is enthusiastic about the subjects they teach and work very hard to engage the students every day. Hopefully you were able to catch a glimpse of that at Back to School Night.

I want to welcome all our new families and their children. Your buddy family will be a great help to you in answering any questions you might have. Do not hesitate to contact the office if you need any additional help.

Our theme this year is “We Are One Body, The Body of Christ”. We all have gifts and talents to share with each other. We may learn differently, progress at various rates, enjoy a variety of activities, and have some academic or physical challenges, but we have one thing in common…..We are the Body of Christ! Our challenge is to be accepting of each other. We will be working on acceptance as we move forward.

As I mentioned at Back to School Night, there is an Active Shooter video that we are to share with the students. The short 8-10-minute video is segmented by age appropriateness. After the video is viewed by the parents we will show it to the students. Be looking for information about parent viewing.

Our work is continuing on the curriculum. Our goal is to have a completely updated document by the end of the year. This is a fluid document with changes being made as needed.

Kindergarten and first grade will be attending Thursday Mass beginning September 8. Parents will be invited to sit with them at class Masses beginning October 6. We need a little time to get the students acclimated to weekly Mass before the adults join them. Parents of other students are invited to sit with the students beginning October 6.

Monthly Reminders:

·  Faculty meeting and noon dismissal September 16; an out of uniform day

·  Mass on the Grass September 17 at 5:00

Please refer to the front page of the website for weekly information. It is updated on Friday for the coming week. Also refer to the handbook especially for out of uniform dress codes.

With the canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa on Sunday, September 4, there has been much written about her. Mother Teresa’s spiritual vitality can be described with these words: “Don’t search for God in faraway lands. He is not there. He is close to you. He is with you. Just keep that lamp burning, and you will always see him.”

Thank you for sharing your children with us. May God’s blessings be upon us as we educate the children entrusted to our care.

Sincerely,

Marie Sinnett
