Agenda for this meeting

USTA 40+ Teams and Captains

Womens -

We will have one 3.0, one 3.5 and one 4.0 team this season

3.0 - Captains Deborah Odier/Wendy Fraser

Teresa Toepel also volunteered but TC feels that she doesn’t know enough 3.0s to captain yet.

3.5 - Pam Bohner & Stacy Ford have volunteered. TC feels that Stacy should play at level to get to know more players before captaining a 3.5 team. Since there were two 3.5 teams last year and only one this year, we would like to get a representative from the other team to captain with Pam this season.

4.0 - Captain Dipanwita Reis. Possible co-captain Karrie Groves. Dipanwita just moved to 4.0 level but she knows all of the players already.

Mens –

Men will have two 3.5 teams, one 4.0 and one 4.5+ team this season

3.5 - Captains Mike Tierney& Dave Petrini

4.0– Matt Estes

4.5 – TBD

Lower Court Project Update

Lower court project submitted to town before Thanksgiving. Town can take up to 6 months to respond. Plan includes 2 more courts, resurfacing, lights, bathrooms, tennis office. Town wanted TPC to submit plans for tennis project and pool project simultaneously. However, lower court project has been approved by membership, pool project has not. So, TPC needs to keep them separate so lower court plans were submitted on their own.

Working with Romeos on moving memorial in order to make a social area/outdoor club with temporary possible bar on the upper courts.

Continued Discussion on Rates

At the last meeting, we discussed issues regarding multi-player lesson rates (3 & 4 people) & inconsistencies on member bills for lessons. An analysis of the situation including rates from other clubs, etc. was performed and a compromise solution was proposed by Brendan. The goal is to make members happy without reducing compensation to pros. It was proposed that the multi-player lesson rates will come down considerably and that there will be three tiers of single person lesson rates: $75, $85 and $95 (tennis director).

In the coming week, the proposed rates will be socialized with the pros, tennis committee, finance committee and board. If everyone is in agreement, the will be implemented soon.

Notes: The board should be approving any increase in prices. TC can make recommendations and board will approve.

TC needs to make sure financials are more transparent on the website

Court constraints

There will be problems with the court availability if El Nino happens. We all need to understand that on dry days the courts will be in high demand and we need to be considerate of each other and share the courts.
