Upgrade

1. Ensure you are running latest version of the Dashboard

You must be running version 2.1 of the Technician Dashboard to perform the upgrade. If you are not running 2.1, please uninstall, and follow the New Install instructions in the beginning of this document.

2. Updating the Dashboard

Updates will be automatically downloaded to the dashboard.

Once you have downloaded the patches, close the Technician Dashboard window (not minimize) and then reopen window to initiate the patching process. You should see this message:

Press ‘OK’ and the patching process will start and you should see the following windows as the upgrade takes place:

**The upgrade process also requires the installation of SQL Server 2008. The installation process for SQL Server 2008 will automatically be initiated as part of the Technician Dashboard 2.2 upgrade (you may have previously installed SQL Server 2008 on your computer for another application. If so, the patching process will bypass this step)

The installation process should take from between 10 – 15 minutes

The installation of SQL Server 2008 also requires that a new version of Windows Installer (v 4.5) be on your computer. If the installation process does not detect the correct version of Windows Installer, it will require you to restart the computer. You will have the opportunity to save and close work on your other applications before computer restart.

The following message will be displayed:

Selecting OK will continue with the installation, and will require a reboot.

Selecting Wait will postpone the installation until OK is selected. This will minimize the window to the system tray until action is taken to complete the install.

Once all of the necessary components have been installed, the command window will have a message instructing you to press any key to continue.

Follow the instructions to complete the patching process.

You should see the message below:

**If you have MiraCal 4.3 installed, you may notice that the version on the Technician Dashboard still remains at 2.1 and not 2.2 (check the user settings view for version). This is because the entire upgrade to version 2.2 cannot be completed until MiraCal is updated to version 4.3, which will align the databases. Other service tools will not be impacted by this upgrade so if you do not have MiraCal installed, then the patching process should completely upgrade you to Technician Dashboard 2.2

Please see the most recent Miracal installation guide for up-to-date information on installation procedures.
