Teachers after your computer is reimaged, please do the following.

While the laptop is still at school:

o  Plug the laptop in using a blue Ethernet cable

o  Sign on to your laptop with your BCPS username and password.

o  This will create your profile on your computer. If you don’t do this before you take your laptop home, you won’t be able to sign in using your username and password.

When time permits (and you are back at school):

o  Once again configure your Outlook email account (see CSC website).

o  If you normally kept your documents in your My Documents folder, you should have backed them up to your h: drive. Restore these files. In other words, copy them from your h: drive to your My Documents folder.

o  Your laptop will have some “system updates” that it needs to run. Go ahead and let them run. This will temporarily slow down your computer.

1)  Connect to the internet here in the building using the blue Ethernet cord. Be sure to turn off your wireless.

2)  Log in using your BCPS username and password.

3)  On the lower right corner of the task bar you will be a yellow shield. If you hover your mouse over the symbol it will tell you there are updates that need to be installed. Double-click and click install updates.

4)  Reboot your computer when the installation is complete.

5)  Log in again using your BCPS username and password.

6)  Allow the computer to sit for an hour or so to receive additional updates.

o  If you use a projector, set your screen resolution to 1024 x 768. (Right click on a blank spot anywhere on the desktop, click screen resolution and then set it).

o  When you get you get your Windows 7 computer, the first time you access clip art, a message will appear with the message:

Do you want to include thousands of additional clip art images and photos from Microsoft Office Online when you search?

ANSWER: YES

If you answer NO, there is no way to get the library of clip art on your computer without reimaging!

o  When you set up your outlook profile, you will get a prompt asking if you want access to various RSS news feeds.

ANSWER: NO

o  If you backed up your ActivInspire Shared Resources, restore any resources packs or resources you created yourself.

o  If you use a flip camera, manually reinstall the software for it.

o  When asked to update JAVA (if it is a teacher computer and you have been given administrator rights), then run the update.

o  When asked to update Adobe Reader, run the update.

o  If you get an error message the first time you use MS PowerPoint, exit and relaunch it.

o  If you backed up your Internet favorites to your H: drive, restore them:
