CPEs may earn PDUs through professional activities. A list of accepted activities is published as part of the Certification Renewal chapter of the Certification Program Guide. The Certification Program guide is available under the “certification” tab of the ASPE national web site. The most up-to-date applications and forms are available on the web site.
ASPE will send you a notice in October of the year prior your expiration year. While you may submit your renewal application any time prior to your certification expiration date, it is recommended that you not wait until the last minute. ASPE will process your application and mail your new credential certificate upon approval of your application.
If you do not meet the deadline (your stated expiration date), your CPE status will expire and you will no longer be allowed to use the C P E designation.
It is your responsibility to maintain records documenting PDU activity and to keep your record/log form up-to-date.
- Certification is valid in three year cycles. To renew your certification, you must complete 90 Professional Development Unit credits over the three year cycle at the rate of 30 PDUs per year.
- The program relies on the honesty and integrity of each individual CPE.
- Units must be earned in at least two different categories. Record activities on the Record/Activity Log form. PDUs can only be claimed in one category per activity.

- Certified Professional Estimators who are selected to be audited for compliance with professional development requirements must submit their documentation to the Society Business Office within thirty (30) calendar days of receiving the audit notice.

Certified Professionals, who are not part of the date cycles listed above, may elect to apply for their next certification renewal per the previous point based renewal forms. Individuals awarded certification or renewal after July 31, 2013 must use the above updated set of activities.
