I take the opportunity, applying for a Structural Engineer position in your reputed company, as posted on web site. I have a solid background in the field of structural analysis and design of concrete, steel and masonry structures, developed working as a structural engineer in various consulting engineering companies including EPCM, for more than 20 years. I am able to analyze, design and support construction of small and medium building/ bridge structures independently. I am experienced in applying different international building codes for structural analysis and design of residential, commercial and industrial buildings, including foundations.

In addition to a Bachelor degree followed by M.Sc. Eng. degree in Structural Engineering, I developed professional skills, which have made me confident in my work. My Master’s thesis is a broad based research work on earthquake resistant design of structures, especially for high-rise structures. This research work enabled me to learn in detail about the seismic design requirements of various types of structures following different building codes and applying fundamental principles. This study and later on working on different projects, helped me in developing my own skill towards this field and made me confident in applying my own judgment when codes of practice is not very specific about the issue.

My studies at Concordia University involved transient thermal stress analysis using nonlinear finite element techniques. I applied Ansys as a tool for the analysis. This project/research work enabled me in developing my skills for analysis and design of structures when sudden impact and time dependent heat/ high temperature is generated due to application of fireball originated from accidental man made hazards.

I am also skilled in designing different types of foundation design works considering static and dynamic loads including anchoring systems in it. I can perform dynamic analysis of foundations for heavy vibrating machineries using FEA computer software and accepted numerical methods. In the past while working on different projects for consulting engineering companies, I calculated wind loads, snow loads and seismic loads following NBCC and ASCE 7 for various types of structures. I also gained hands on experience in engineering project implementation in a government organization involving technical as well as administrative and financial management that helped me feeling confident about my capabilities. I have a strong drive and motivation to experience and learn new things with sound analytical, inter-personal and communication skills. My excellent verbal and written skills enable me to effectively communicate information to others.

I am a Professional Engineer Arizona and Ontario. I am skilled in using computer structural engineering software like Staad pro, Ansys, Ne/Nastran, for structural analysis and design. In the past, many times I could successfully perform in solving many structural engineering issues, which are non-typical and are not specifically covered by codes of practices, by mere following and applying fundamental structural principles. Analysis and design of steel made Mainshaft Stand, SRC platform and Apron Feeder platforms. Foundations for SRC platform, Refeed Station. Shear wall design. Rock breaker Moil Design. Following UBC, AISC and ACI for a area of high seismic risk zone using Staad pro/Risa and Excel spread sheets.

·  2011 @ Testengeer.

Hydrochlor Project.

Analysis and design of steel made Canopy including its foundation. Analysis and design of concrete pavement for heavy traffics including foundations for different machines and equipments. Design of different pipe support systems for pipe lines and miscellaneous structures. Revising the support systems for additive Hopper. For modeling and designing, Staad pro was used following AISC and ACI.

Analysis and design of Mine dry Building following National Building Code 2005. Analysis and design of different steel walk-ways/platforms and steel staircases following National Building Code 2005. Analysis and Design of 8 Stored Industrial steel building following National Building Code 1995, for Snow, Wind and Seismic Load Considerations, using software staad pro for analysis and spread sheets for design. Analysis and design of mat reinforced concrete foundation of Calcining Mill steel building Using software Staad pro and following National Building Code 1995.

Brownstock & Bleaching Plant Upgrade.

Analysis and design of Concrete Mat pile foundation of 10-storied heavy industrial building with Silos following National Building Code Canada 1995. Models, analysis, and designs were performed using Staad pro.

·  2005-2006 @ Progenie.

Analysis and design of steel made platforms, walkways, staircases, for Wabush Mine.

Few steel made new platforms were designed for enhancing existing mobility inside plant area. Some of them were resting on existing columns and some of them were resting over newly constructed steel columns. For all the cases analyses were performed using FEA technique. Design detailing of connections were performed following CISC. Numerous numbers of walkways were designed to facilitate the needed interlink and mobility due to expansion of existing plants from one segment to another.

Stair-Cases.

Numerous numbers of steel staircases and ladders were designed including their connection details for climbing up to walkways and platforms. All were modeled by FEA and designed following CISC.

Existing Conveyor Structure Modification for Wabush Mine.

The existing conveyor structural condition became very weak because of its age and corroded at many important places because of weathering condition. In order to assess its existing structural capability and to improve upon it, total existing structure was pictured by video, and necessary improvements were made basing on the structural requirements. Previous old drawings were consulted in conjunction with present situation as indicated by pictures.

Modification of existing ship loader of Wabush Mine.

The existing ship loader was pictured and different corroded members were replaced.

Analysis of aluminum made Trailer using Ne/Nastran, for Alouette.

FEA of aluminum made mobile home including complete design was performed following structural design manual 2000, Aluminum Association.

Analysis of steel made rack storages using Ne/Nastran for Quebec, Cartier.

Steel made racks for carrying heavy steel materials were modeled using FEA technique for evaluating its load carrying capacity. Necessary modifications and upgrade in the structural systems were made to improve its load carrying capacity.

Design of monorails.

Few monorails were designed following CISC.

·  2002-2005 @ Concordia Univ.

Worked on Developing a module for determining the structural responses when fire ball generated and sudden impact occurred on steel and concrete structures simultaneously due to accidental man made hazard with the application of following combinations -

Literature review. Thermal analysis of concrete and steel structures. Thermal Stress Analysis. Nonlinear Transient thermal stress Analysis, conducted using nonlinear material properties. Sensitivity and Probabilistic Analysis using MonteCarlo Simulation. Fortran Programming.

Analysis and design of 11 storied reinforced concrete residential building following ACI, UBC 91 with the provisions of wind and seismic considerations. Analysis and design of Bell Men Hanger (Steel Structure) following AISC. Performing Master Plan of a cantonment for its complete installation and execution. Analysis & Design of residential, commercial, institutional, concrete and steel buildings, ranging from one story to six storied, following AISC, ACI and UBC, including retrofitting of existing structures. Design of small/medium and large span bridges, culverts, abutments and retaining walls following AASHTO. Design of water purification Plant, Under-ground Water tank and overhead tank, shallow and deep swimming pool following ACI.
