Guidelines for Shadowing a North Central Student

The faculty and staff of North Central High School welcome the opportunity to provide an in-school experience for students who are considering attending North Central High School. To shadow, a student must be currently enrolled in grade 8 or high school in a non-MSDWT school. Grade 8 students are only able to shadow grade 9 students. Students may not shadow family members. Students must stay for the entire school day.

The purpose of shadowing is to get a flavor of what a day is like at North Central so an informed decision can be made regarding enrollment. This is not an opportunity for someone from out of town simply to visit for a day.

DUE TO THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO REQUEST TO SHADOW AT

NORTH CENTRAL WE CAN ONLY ALLOW ONE VISIT PER STUDENT.

In order to make this a meaningful and worthwhile experience, with the least possible disruption to the classroom environment, the following policies and procedures need to be followed:

  1. The student must fill out the application on the reverse side of this sheet and must have signatures from a parent or guardian and the home school principal. Please prioritize three dates.
  1. The completed application must be returned to the North Central Guidance Office assoon as possible as dates fill up quickly. LAST MINUTE ARRANGEMENTS ARE NOT POSSIBLE.
  1. Students are expected to remain at school for the entire school day.
  1. On the day that the shadowing is to occur, the visiting student should report to the Guidance/Counseling Center at 7:10 a.m. to meet the host student. Door #1 provides the easiest access for dropping off and picking up students. Parents may park in the red line visitor parking in front of the school. Students should bring their lunch or $3.00 to $4.00. Our school day ends at 2:35 p.m. Students may meet their rides at Door #1.
