The Second International Conference on
Mining Intelligence and Knowledge Exploration
December 10-12, 2014, University College Cork, Ireland

OVERVIEW

MIKE 2014 is an interdisciplinary conference that brings together researchers and practitioners from the domains of learning algorithms, data mining, machine learning, knowledge exploration, large-scale data analytics, big data, soft computing and information systems. MIKE focuses on a specialised topic every year and the theme for this year is: Learning to explore Business Intelligence.
The MIKE 2014 Program Committee invites submissions of original 1. Theoretical research papers, 2. Applied research papers and 3. Deployed application papers on all aspects of Learning Algorithms, Data / Text Mining and Knowledge discovery techniques for the main technical program.

REVIEW CRITERIA

Each submission must be identified as either 1. Theoretical research 2. Applied research, or 3. A deployed application paper and will be reviewed using criteria appropriate to its category. Most importantly, the review process is double-blind reviewed and hence the authors are instructed not to include anywhere in the submission, their identity, affiliation(s) or contact details. Violating this restriction will lead to disqualification of the paper from the review process. All papers should be prepared and submitted according to the following guidelines.

DOUBLE-BLIND REVIEW

MIKE 2014 uses a double-blind review process for paper selection.

a)Authors should not know the names of the reviewers of their papers, and reviewers should not know the name(s) of the authors.

b)Please prepare your paper in a way that preserves anonymity of the authors.

c)Do not put your name(s) under the title.

d)Avoid using phrases such as “our previous work” when referring to earlier wby the authors.

e)Remove information that may identify the authors in the acknowledgments (e.g., co-workers and grant IDs)

f)Check supplemental material (e.g., titles in the video clips, or supplementary documents) for information that may identify the authors’ identities.

g)Avoid providing links to websites that identify the authors.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Papers must be submitted online through EasyChair system following the submission link:

PROCEEDINGS
All accepted papers will appear in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNCS/LNAI) series published by Springer and will be indexed by DBLP, Scopus and other popular indexing systems.

Additionally authors of selected best papers will be invited to submit extended versions for a number of special issue journals (for more details, please check the website).
Authors should note that the papers should be of maximum 10 A4 pages (including figures and tables) and manuscripts must be prepared with LaTex2e (llncs2e.zip).
Papers MUST be submitted in Springer LNCS format, which is the format required for the final camera ready copy. We will accept:
Long papers: with a maximum of 10 pages
Short papers: with a maximum of 6 pages

Both long and short papers will be considered for poster and oral (short or long) presentation at the conference based on the reviewing criteria above. Authors' instructions along with LaTeX (preferred) and Word macro files are available on the web at Springer's Information for LNCS Authors page (
LaTeX Format: ftp://ftp.springer.de/pub/tex/latex/llncs/latex2e/llncs2e.zip
Authors of accepted papers are required to transfer the copyright to Springer. All submissions are required to be in electronic format.
Multiple Submission Policy
Papers submitted to other conferences or journals must state this fact. If a paper will appear in another conference or journal, it must be withdrawn from MIKE 2014. This restriction does not apply to papers appearing in proceedings of specialised MIKE workshops.
Author Registration Policy
In order for a paper to appear in the proceedings, at least one of the authors MUST register for the conference by the camera-ready copy deadline.
