Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the 2013-2014SPIN Board!

To be considered for any of the positions, please complete this application. Feel free to attach any extra pages, if you want, but that’s not required. At the end of the application, you’ll find descriptions for all the available positive, and the contact information for the current board members(s). Feel free to contact current board members directly. You may attach an extra page if necessary, but no more than one. At the end of the application there are descriptions of the available positions as well as the contact information for the current board member(s) in that position. If you have questions about a particular position(s), please feel free to contact that person directly

Please note that when making selections, the sitting board has the option of creating co-chair or vice chair positions and/or combining positions depending on the interests and qualifications of applicants.

The SPIN Board was an excellent experience, and we want to keep up the awesome work with outstanding members next year. The completed application is due to by April 30 by 8:00pm.

Please Rank the positions from 1 to 8 (1 = preferable, 8 = least preferable). Do not rank positions that you are not willing to take. The sitting board reserves the right to split any position into two by creating co-chairs or tocombine multiple positions together as we see fit. All members work together, and you may be required to help other board members in their duties.

SPIN Board Position Descriptions

President (Kenisha Marks, ; Vice President, Jacqui Robbins )

  • Meet with administration when necessary and act on SPIN's behalf where necessary
  • Coordinate between board members to ensure everything is well-planned, well-run and properly spaced, and executed
  • Schedule and facilitate Board meetings and attend SBA meetings on SPIN's behalf
  • Plan Orientation information and publicity (late August)
  • Schedule and facilitate SPIN general body meetings
  • Coordinate SPIN Honors Award application process
  • Compose emails and announcements to SPIN listserv and update SPIN calendar
  • Maintain SPIN listserv
  • Reserve rooms for meetings
  • Organize next year's board

Treasurer (Emma Bradley, )

  • Handle Reimbursements in a timely manner
  • Keep track of expenses and operating budget
  • Be aware of deadlines and aggressive with emails
  • Keep track of how well fundraising is doing throughout the year and give updates
  • Work closely with Events Chair

Forum Chair (Emma Bradley, Jacqui Robbins)

  • Choose forum topic and speakers
  • Advertise the forum and coordinate any necessary logistical concerns
  • Coordinate with administration for forum funding, location, and time
  • Form committee to organize forum
  • Seek sponsorship from other student groups for the forum

Fundraising/Events Chair (Shawn Cabinian, )

  • Responsible for bringing all non-auction produced money into SPIN
  • Coordinate multiple bake sales, and fundraising events (ie. pie sale, candygrams)
  • Coordinate any other fundraising event (i.e. Dean’s Cup, a capella concert)

Community Service Representative (Jacqui Robbins)

  • Plan and facilitate public interest volunteer opportunities, including blood drives
  • Coordinate with other student organization about endorsing their community service efforts

Pro Bono Representative (Kenisha Marks)

  • Plan and facilitate pro bono volunteer opportunities, including SDAS and PA Innocence Project, with local organizations and student groups
  • Coordinate with other student groups to endorse their pro bono opportunities
  • Work with Career Services to endorse the Rubin Public Interest Honor Society

Auction Chair (Becca Alderfer, )

  • Point person for location, catering, auctioneers and other live auction details
  • In charge of planning for, delegating jobs for, execution of, & clean up from live auction
  • Design and oversee printing and mailing of invitations, coordinate publicity/flyers for auction
  • Coordinate registration, check out and delivery of items at live auction
  • Work with Development Office (Colleen Uhniat specifically) on live auction details; and work closely with the Solicitation Chairs and online auction chair
  • Note: time commitment in the fall semester is light; spring semester is more intensive, requiring a couple hours almost every day to keep on top of everything as the event draws closer

Solicitations Chair (Rebecca Song, ; Alyssa Kovach, )

  • Coordinate Solicitations for online and live auctions
  • Train and coordinate SPIN members on soliciting for the auction
  • Keep track and collect all items in solicitation spreadsheet
  • Work with the administration in the Development Office for collection of items, alumni outreach, and street teams
  • Work with Colleen Uhniat when dealing with donation money; work closely with Auction Chair

Online Auction/Technology Chair (Jeff Cohen, )

  • Applicants must have or learn basic skills with HTML editing, image editing (with Photoshop or GIMP), FTP, and Excel spreadsheets
  • Maintain and update the SPIN website (
  • Work with Dean Nair to coordinate the SPIN Online Auction
  • Manage data entry for the SPIN Online Auction (including image uploads)
  • Confirm payments for Online Auction items
  • Coordinate the pickup and shipping of paid Online Auction items
