Monday

  1. Write the core words (#1-5) two times each.
  1. Write the review words (#6-16) andyour additional wordsone time each.
  1. Writethree expanded sentences (5 or more words) using any word (core, review or in your additional words) in each sentence. Underline the spelling words. In each sentence include at least one adjective. Circle the adjective(s).

*Adjectives are words that describe nouns.

Tuesday

  1. Please sort the following words. Sort them according to where the /s/ sound is:

/s/ at the beginning of a word / /s/ in the middle of a word / /s/ at the end of a word

Wednesday

1. Please find YOUR group’s chart and sort YOUR set of additional words into the chart.

Group Saturn: Please take your additional words and sort them into the following groups based off of which syllable the long /o/ sound is heard and the spelling pattern that creates the long /o/ sound. Use all of your additional words in the chart (please write it in your notebook).

Hint: V = vowel and C = consonant

1st syllable / 1st syllable / 2nd syllable / 1st syllable / 2nd syllable / Example: does not meet any of the previous spelling patterns

Group Mars: Please take your additional words and sort them into the following groups based off of the long i and short i sound. Use all of your additional words in the chart (please write it in your notebook).

Group Uranus: Please take your additional words and sort them into the following groups based off of the spelling pattern and how adding –edaffects the spelling of the word. Use all of your additional words in the chart (please write it in your notebook).

Example: hopped (hop) / Example: hoped (hope) / Example: joined (join) / Example: same pattern as words that are doubled, but you do not double these

Group Venus: Please take your additional words and sort them into the following groups based off of the different spellings when –o makes an /or/ sound. Use all of your additional words in the chart (please write it in your notebook).

Thursday

1.Study for your Spelling Review on Friday. Write any words that you have had difficulty with at least five times each.
