Any MPS school may register any number of students in grades 9-12, and each student may enter up to three events (but may not enter radio and extemp together). We use rules of theWisconsin Forensic Coaches' Association, except Declamation, which can be accessed on theEvents/Divisionspage.Please review the rules and any changes this year. We make the following allowances for WHSFA rules:

* Note card in Oratory
* Single, stationary chair in Solo Acting; chairs/stools in Group Interpretation.
* Non-penalized 8-minute presentations in Solo Acting and Oral Interp.

There are no entry fees; this tournament is only open to schools in the Milwaukee Public Schools district. Changes to entries can be made on this website until Wednesday, March 18 at 8:30 p.m.

Entries in "Novice Poetry" or "Novice Prose" must be in their first year of high school forensic competition (thisdoesallow for students who participated in middle school forensics).

JUDGE REQUIREMENT

Each school must provide 1 judge for every 5entriesor fraction thereof (e.g. 7 entries = 2 judges). This includes double entries, so even a small double-entered squad may require more judges. If you are having difficulties finding, please let us know ASAP, so we can help.

8:00 / All Coaches, Students, and Judges should be at Rufus King HS by this time; enter through main doors on 18th/Olive.
8:10 / Mandatory Judge Meeting (Library/Room 227; 2nd floor, stairs by main entrance)
8:20 / Schematics Distributed to Students (Cafeteria, basement)
8:30 / Radio/Extemp Draw (room 205)
9:00 / Round 1
10:30 / Round 2
11:45 / Round 3
1:00 / Finals Rounds (as posted)
2:45 / Awards

*If your students aremeeting youat the tournament, pleaseask them to arrive by 8:00 am.Please help us run an efficient tournament by cooperating with this request.

Instructions for cross-entered students:please inform your judge at the beginning of the round and asked to perform as soon as possible, politely excusing yourself from the round after performing so that you can compete in your other events. If it is your last event, stay for the duration of the round. Do not enter rounds until you hear applause.

Tournament headquarters/tab will be in room 200.

FOOD

We will have pizza and snacks for sale to students; and salad, pasta, and snacks for judges/coaches.

TOURNAMENT MORNING CONFIRMATION

Please call the morning of with any known changes-414-267-0870. If you do not call, your students must check in with you at Rufus King by 7:59 a.m. and you must check in by 8:00 a.m. the morning of; otherwise, we will start dropping entries. All participants/adults should enter through the main doors on 18th and Olive. DO NOT call any phone number except for the above listed phone number-cell phone reception is very poor and we will not get the message.
