Historical Context: From 1775 to 1781, the 13 English colonies were engaged in a conflict for their independence with their sovereign (ruler), England. The world awaited the outcome of “the shot heard round the world” for this was the first time a European colony had rebelled against its mother country.

Tasks – Each team of two people is to complete all of the following (Parts A, B, and C):

  1. Write a research report of at least FOUR paragraphs that contains the following information:

  3. The event that you have chosen, the person you are writing about and some of the facts that you will be explaining in your body paragraph (Thesis statement)
  1. TWO supporting paragraphs:
  2. What was your historical figures’ occupation before the Revolutionary War or other interesting background information about him/her (family life)? This information will be in your first supporting paragraph.
  3. Why or how did this person join the Revolutionary War effort? Base your answer on the background information about him/her. This information will be in your first supporting paragraph.
  4. What is your famous person’s significant involvement during the war regarding the event that your group has selected? This information will be in your second supporting paragraph.
  5. What did this famous person do after the war? This information will be in your second supporting paragraph.
  1. A concluding paragraph of at least three to four sentences that summarize the accomplishments of your historical figure.
  1. An outline and first draft of your report that will be due one week before the final due date.
