Green Organics single essential oils are the pure essence extracted from a single plant source and a single producing organ such as flower, leaf, root etc. Many single oils such as Lavender and Tea Tree are used individually while some are most frequently combined into blends. The following single essential oils are often used alone or in blends for their many benefits to the body, mind and spirit.

Black Pepper

Piper nigrum; producing organ black peppercorns, dried and crushed, extraction by steam distillation, country of origin India.

Safety precautions and contraindications: Non-toxic, non-sensitizing, irritant in high concentration due to rubefacient properties. Use in moderation.

Indian Black Pepper is considered superior because it’s particularly rich in piperine, the compound responsible for the pepper sneeze. Piperine stimulates the taste buds, triggering the pancreas to begin producing digestive enzymes. It is reported to tone the lining of the intestines. 5 to 10 drops of Black Pepper add to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil and massaged clock-wise over the stomach and colon area may help to stimulate digestion and improve the elimination transit time.

Black pepper is very helpful for arthritis and rheumatic disorders as is warming and analgesic and according to research the piperine reduces the inflammatory response often present in these conditions. Mix 5 to 10 drops with 1 teaspoon carrier oil for a massage. For a Bath mix 10 to 20 drops Black Pepper with a half cup of Dead Sea Salt and soak in warm water.

According to scientists at the Nicotine Research Laboratory in Durham, North Carolina, the craving for cigarettes may decrease with the inhalation of Black Pepper essential oil. Apply to a tissue and inhale as needed.

A team of Japanese researchers reported that sniffing Black Pepper oil for one minute helped improve the ability to swallow in more than 100 people who had suffered a stroke. “Inhalation of Black Pepper oil…might benefit older post-stroke patients with dysphagia, regardless of their level of consciousness or physical or mantal status,” the researchers stated in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society. Inhale 1 to 2 drops from a tissue as needed.

Due to the piperine, Black Pepper is thought to have anti-depressive and cognitive enhancing properties. If studying you may want to diffuse a small amount of Black Pepper with some Peppermint to improve memory and prevent mental fatigue. You can also put 1 drop of each on a tissue and inhale as needed.

Eucalyptus radiata

Eucalyptus radiata; producing organ leaves, extraction by steam distillation, country of origin Australia.

Eucalyptus radiata is primarily an essential oil for the respiratory system, it has good anti-catarrhal properties. It is a powerful expectorant and mucolytic with good ability for fluidification. It is a gentle yet effective essential oil for respiratory problems and is more easily tolerated by children than Eucalyptus globulus. It is equally useful for elimination of viruses and to support the entire respiratory system. Its high content of 1,8 cineole makes it a good choice for diffusion into a room when someone has a respiratory infection.

You can make a chest rub with Eucalyptus radiata, Tea Tree and Lavender. Put 5 drops of each into 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage over the lung area. If there is also ear congestion you can massage a small amount around the ear. (Do not drop essential oils directly into the ear.)

Eucalyptus radiata blends well with Tea Tree and the two can be diffused together in a child’s room when they are congested and can’t sleep. Diffuse for 5 minutes, repeat every 2 to 3 hours.

It has good infection-fighting properties for both acute and chronic respiratory infections, and is effective for the flu. During a cold or flu, you can use Eucalyptus radiata neat on the tips of the toes (sinus reflex points) and on the pad of the foot (lung reflex points). Use 1 drop on each foot for small children age 1 to 6, 2 drops for older children and 3 to 4 drops for adults.

Eucalyptus radiata is a strong antiseptic, yet it is non-toxic. A good anti-viral and an energizer to the body, it can be very effective in cases of chronic fatigue and immune deficiency.

Frankincense Fragrance of Kings

Frankincense Bosewellia carterii; producing organ resin, extraction by steam distillation, country of origin Oman.

Frankincense is known for its ability to slow down the breathing and when inhaled from a tissue during particularly stressful or intense moments, it enables one to find the calm needed to face the situation. It may also be applied to the solar plexus to restore calm as well as the heart if needed.

Frankincense is also a good remedy for depression and anxiety layered with Neroli, and grief layered with Rose. When layered with Lavender and use several times a day over the heart it will help with recent as well as old traumas.

Frankincense used as a chest rub will help eliminate catarrh and restore balance to the whole cardio-respiratory system. Apply to the chest as needed.

Frankincense is known for its ability to diminish scar tissue. Layer it with Lavender for its added cell regenerative properties. This is effective even for old scars. Apply liberally and rub into the scarred area several times a day.

Ginger

Zingiber officinale; producing organ rhizome, extraction by steam distillation, country of origin China.

Researchers have discovered that all 42 components in the Ginger oil used in East Africa to kill parasites will, in isolation, kill roundworms in the intestines. (Some of these compounds actually worked better in studies than the commonly prescribed piperazine citrate preparation.)

Ginger is one of the best remedies for nausea – especially motion and morning sickness. The British medical journal Lancet reported Ginger more effective than the popular antihistamine drug Dramamine for preventing motion sickness, and unlike the drug, ginger doesn’t leave you feeling sluggish. May be inhaled from a tissue, or used in a massage blend use 2 to 4 drops in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil, ot add 1 drop to a teaspoon of honey and stir into a cup of hot water for a tasty and effective tea.

It is also helpful in cases of diarrhea where you can use the above massage blend or the Ginger and honey tea.

Ginger is a digestive stimulant effective for constipation, loss of appetite, sluggish digestion, and nausea, prepare a tea as above and sip. May also apply to the colon reflex points on the feet.

Jasmine Queen of the Night

Jasmine Jasminum grandiflorium; producing organ the flowers, extraction by solvent with separation by alcohol to produce an absolute, country of origin Egypt.

Caution: Jasmine should not be taken internally due to its solvent extraction.

In India the jasmine plant is called “queen of the night” or “moonlight in the garden.” This plant with blossoms the color of moonlight generously emits, especially at night, a magical fragrance that penetrates the deepest layers of our soul, opening the doors to our emotions.

When used as perfume and inhaled Jasmine can awaken innocence, sweetness and purity. Through the limbic region of the brain, Jasmine influences the emotional part of us. No other oil is able to so intensely change our mood. Lifting our mood it can bring euphoria to darkness. It is known to help with emotional blocks, coldness, fear, and paranoia particularly if caused by sexual abuse. Jasmine can help restore trust, allowing us to experience physical love.

It also aids in milk production and menstruation. It helps relieve back ache, simply roll on the painful area and gently massage it in. Use only the last two weeks before delivery.

Lavender The Divine Mother

Lavender, fine Lavandula angustifolia; producing organ flowering plant, extraction by steam distillation, country of origin France.

True Lavender, known as the “Divine Mother” is an exception emotional and spiritual essence. It may be the perfect oil because it is so astonishingly effective. Suitable for young children without reservation, provided it is absolutely pure and of certified origin.

Lavender essential oil is unmatched in its nurturing and balancing abilities within all the systems of the body. As a known antimicrobial, it can kill air-borne pathogens in the sinuses and respiratory airways. It is analgesic and disinfecting when applied to insect bites and stings, soothes muscle aches, relieves headaches, and stimulates the immune system. Apply over bites and stings as needed.

Lemon

Citrus limonum; producing organ the peel, extraction by cold expression, country of origin, Italy.

Safety precautions and contraindications: Lemon essential oil is non-toxic (if organic), and non-irritant. It will however cause the skin to sunburn if exposed to the sun right after application; you should wait twelve hours keeping the skin covered before exposing skin to sunlight.

2 or 3 drops in a glass or bottle of water purifies the water, purifies the liver and the blood, has a draining effect and can be helpful to people who are suffering weight gain, obesity or cellulite. 15 to 20 drops added to 1 cup Dead Sea Salt in a hot bath will benefit those suffering from arthritic pain, arterial hypertension, poor circulation, rheumatism, obesity, and cellulite.

Lemon essential oil used as a cleanser is helpful for those with greasy skin, and is often sold as a nail oil to strengthen the nails. According to Dr. Jean Valnet, when tested against other essential oils for airborne germs, lemon came out as the number one disinfectant for the air. It will also act as an immune stimulant. Add a few drosp to a diffuser or create a mister bottle by adding 10 to 12 drops of Lemon oil to 4 oz of distilled water. Mix and store in a blue cobalt glass bottle, shake well before misting.

When used in a working or study environment, it helps create a productive atmosphere in which mistakes are less likely to happen. Diffuse, mist or apply a drop to a tissue and inhale as needed.

2 to 3 drops of lemon essential oil in water taken 4 times a day will help prevent the accumulation of fluids in those who suffer from poor circulation, cellulite, and obesity.

Neroli The Essence of Nobility

Neroil Cistus aurantium var, amara; producing organ the flowers, extraction by steam distillation, country of origin, Italy.

Anna Maria de la Termoille, Princess of Nerole, introduced orange blossom oil to Italian society in the 17th century. She loved the fragrance and used it everywhere – on her gloves, stationery, lace shawls, and ribbons, and in the bath, among many other places. The nobility soon followed her example, and it became fashionable to surround oneself with orange blossom scent. Orange blossom oil is still called Neroli in her honor.
