Since St. Louis Catholic Church was first established in 1939, the church has consistently provided for the growth and expansion of our parish community to meet the needs of our parishioners. Today, our church campus includes a parish rectory, a religious education building, a parish center and our church building.

We have experienced significant growth over the past seventy years and are once again, called to address the pastoral needs of a rich, ethnically divergent parish community by meeting the needs of today and planning for the growth potential of tomorrow.

St. Louis Catholic Church, as it is today, reflects the rich heritage of many divergent peoples--American, Afrikaans, African-American, Hispanic and Asian American cultures—we all have different backgrounds and diverse economic resources, yet we are truly one in faith and in the family of Christ.

As part of our pastoral planning for St. Louis Catholic Church for the next 5 years, our goal is to provide our parishioners with a new parish center in which we can celebrate together our diversity as a faith community—

  • to provide available space to meet the functions of our various parish groups;
  • to provide ample space for pastoral functions, such as liturgies, weddings, funerals;
  • to provide open space for the social activities, including annual parish functions and seasonal celebrations, including the liturgical seasons of Christmas and Easter.

BUILDING FUND APPEAL

To finance the construction of a new parish center, we propose using some of the parish savings account, and we propose a parish wide three-year building pledge campaign designed to raise in excess of $75,000 towards our expenses.

In his August 10, 2010 letter to St. Louis Parish, Most Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston, has approved the request of the St. Louis Parish Finance Council petitioning the establishment of a building fund. In his letter to our parish, he approved the request for a building fund collection and has additionally stipulated that all monies raised for the building fund will be free from assessment for a period of three years, beginning July, 28, 2010 through July 31, 2013.

The Building Fund Appeal (BFA) is our way to respond to God’s call to share our gifts of time, talent and treasure. As stewards of God’s many gifts, you are asked to support the needs of our parish through your prayers. You are also asked to share your talents by volunteering for parish ministries. Finally, all members of our parish are asked to make a sacrificial gift through a pledge or a one-time donation to the Building Fund Appeal to build a new parish center for the parishioners of Saint Louis Catholic Church.

We will be challenged in many ways to accomplish this task before us. I am confident we will all step forward to accept our roles in this building project for the future of St. Louis parish, for as Matthew 19:26 calls us to remember, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

“A person who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and one who sows bountifully will reap bountifully. People must give according to what they have inwardly decided; not sadly, not grudgingly, for God loves a cheerful giver."

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 We realize that not everyone can make the same size gift, but you can make the same size sacrifice that is proportionate to how God has blessed you and your loved ones. Whether you choose to make a pledge or a one-time donation, all gifts are greatly appreciated.
