Septemberuniform & Attendance Next Year

17 July 2015

Dear Parents & Guardians

Septemberuniform & attendance next year

As we approach the end of the school year I just wanted to make contact to thank you for your support this year and also remind you of some of our uniform policy so that you can ensure that over the summer you purchase the correct items of uniform ready for September.

When we return after the summer holiday we revert back to our traditional uniform consisting of blazer, white shirt, clip on tie, optional school jumper, tailored trousers / skirt (no jeans / leggings) and plain black leather shoes, which have no branding and are not identifiable as trainers (no Nike, Vans, Converse etc…). Weather dependent, students may also wear a suitable coat however no hooded/ sports tops are permitted.

Our school uniform which was developed and retained following extensive consultation with students, parents and staff helps to provide a sense of identity and also pride of being part of the Fitzharrys School community, it also helps to develop a sense of professionalism and prepares students for the world of work.

You may find the attached supporting links helpful when purchasing trousers / skirts, the below link will also take you to our uniform guidance on the school website:

In September, students will return to school after the staff training days as detailed below;

Thursday 3 September – Years 7, 10, 12 & 13

Friday 4 September – All year groups in school

There is a clear link between good attendance at school and achievement in terms of GCSE results at the end of Year 11. The time spent in Years 7-10 will establish good routines and learning habits, laying the foundations for success. All students must be aiming to achieve 100% attendance next year and we will continue to work with students to reinforce this important message next year and appreciate your help and support with regard to this at home.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain the high standards we have for all at Fitzharrys. If you would like to discuss any issues raised in this letter, or require further clarification before purchasing items of uniform, please do not hesitate to contact either your son’s/daughter’s Head of Year or myself at the school. Best wishes to you all for the summer.

Yours sincerely

Ali Williams

Assistant Headteacher - Pastoral Director
