SENIOR POST-SECONDARY TO DO LIST (January 23rd, 2017):

  • Meet with your School Counselor (Lisa Lefevre) about graduation status and post-secondary goals.
  • Appointment signup sheet available in the counseling office.
  • FILL OUT AND SUBMIT FAFSA ASAP IF NOT ALREADY DONE! (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Application - Funds Awarded using 2015 tax information. (FAFSA.ed.gov)

  • *If you qualify for the Pell Grant & have a 3.4 GPA you could be eligible for FREE tuition at Portland State University
  • Finalize list of colleges / training programs & APPLY ASAP!
  • Familiarize yourself with the application requirements of each school.
  • Admission deadlines & instructions are available on individual college/program websites under “admissions”.

  • The ASPIRE program is designed to help students achieve their post-secondary plans, including both college and vocational. A parent permission form is required.
  • Once you have completed and submitted a college application, don't forget to request transcripts!
  • Most schools prefer to receive ELECTRONIC transcripts (but not all colleges offer this option). If electronic transcripts are accepted, you would need to fill in your counselor's email address () on your college application. Always come in and check with your counselor that the email was received.
  • In order to request a PAPER transcript, come in to the counseling office and fill out a transcript request form for each school to which you have applied where you would like transcripts sent.
  • The Oregon Promise Application Is Open (Priority Deadline April 1st for Fall 2017 Term)
  • What is Oregon Promise? Oregon Promise is a state grant program that covers some or all of the tuition at an Oregon community college. Oregon Promise is for recent Oregon high school graduates who enroll in an Oregon community college within six months of graduation.
  • Who is eligible? You must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Have a 2.5 cumulative high school GPA or higher
  • Enroll at least half-time at an Oregon community college within 6 months of graduation
  • Be an Oregon resident for at least 12 months prior to enrolling in community college
  • Search for scholarship opportunities. Scholarship information for individual colleges is available on their financial aid webpage.
  • 3 Types of Aid: Federal (FAFSA), Institutional (Requires FAFSA Info), & Local/National Private
