SELECTION OF VOLUNTEERS!!

The InstitutoTecnológico De Castilla Y León (ITCL, is selecting volunteers for the European research projectSIMUSAFE (SIMUlator of Behavioural Aspects for SAFEr Transport) until November 5th, 2017.

SIMUSAFE is a European research project funded by the Horizon 2020 program, involving 16 research bodies from 11 different countries. The aim is to create a new generation driving simulator to analyze in detail the individual and collective behavior in road traffic (drivers of four and two wheeled vehicles and pedestrians) and their mutual interaction with the systems and services related to road safety. The advanced simulator implemented by the project will use Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality methods to define advanced behavioral models, in order to better understand, and then prevent, those that lead to accidents.

What would you do?

Volunteers will be invited to install different recording systems for some driving parameters and then drive normally for three consecutive months. Data will be downloaded once a month, and on that occasion the volunteers will be interviewed for the most salient facts happened during the period. In addition, volunteers will test a first version of the simulator to compare data.

The purpose is to acquire and define standard "natural" behavioral data to create a simulator which behaves like real traffic conditions, to be used in driving learning or traffic campaigns, for example.

Data will be anonymizedin accordance with the Legislative Decree No. 196/2003 of protection of personal data. And there is a forfeit reimbursement for each volunteer selected.

Requirements

1)Being native speaker Spanish

2)Belong to any of the following groups:

• Have an age, at the time of selection, between 18 and 24 ORbetween 50 and 70 years old

AND

• Own a car, a motorbike OR a bicycle (or having a written consent to use by the owner)AND
• Drive regularly (at least three times a week) in urban areas

OR

• Walk regularly (at least three times a week) in urban areas

SIMUSAFE es un Proyecto Europeo de investigación financiado por el programa Horizon 2020, involucrando 16 empresas y organismos de 11 países diferentes.El propósito es crear un simulador de conducción de nueva generación para analizar en detalle el comportamientode diferentes vehículos y peatonesen el tráfico yaquellos aspectos relacionados con la seguridaden la carretera. El simulador implementado en el proyecto usará métodos de Inteligencia Artificial y Realidad Virtual para definir modelos avanzados de comportamiento, entender las causas que provocan los accidentes y prevenirlos.

¿Qué hay que hacer?

Habrá varios grupos de voluntarios (coches, motos, bicicletas y peatones), y se facilitarán una serie de sensores que midan varios parámetros de conducción. Todos los grupos deberán comportarse de manera normal (seguir con la rutina diaria) durante tres meses seguidos mientras se recogen datos.Dichos datos serán descargados una vez al mes y, en esa ocasión, se entrevistará a cada participante preguntando acerca de los hechos más significativos que hayan ocurrido durante ese período. Al final de los tres meses, los voluntarios también probarán una primera versión del simulador para comparar los datos obtenidos.Además, habrá una compensación económica para cada voluntario seleccionado.

La finalidad del estudio es adquirir datos relativos a un comportamiento de conducción “natural” (con sus fallos), y definir patrones estandarizados que permitan crear un simulador cuyos elementos se comporten de la manera más “real” posible.

Los datos obtenidos serán anónimos y sólo podrán ser accesibles por personal especializado del estudio, de acuerdo con la Ley Orgánica 15/1999 de Protección de datos de carácter personal.

Requisitos

1)HablarEspañol de maneranativa

2)Pertenecer a alguno de los siguientes grupos:

• Grupo 1: Edad entre 18 y 24 años
• Grupo 2: Edad entre 50 y 70 años

3)Tener un coche, moto o bicicleta (o tener el permiso de uso del propietario)y conducir de manera regular (al menos tres veces por semana) en áreas urbanas

O caminar de manera regular (al menos tres veces por semana) en áreas urbanas

4)Poder ir una vez al mes a las instalaciones del ITCL (Pol. Ind. Villalonquejar, López Bravo, 70, 09001 Burgos)
