The Secondhand Book Sale operates each year by voluntary PCA staff.It gives parents the opportunity to sell this year’s books and to buy secondhand books for next year.The sale only deals in textbooks for Years 7–12.

Submitting Books for Sale

Students can download the booklist and copies of this form from the St Michael’s website.Use the booklist to determine which books are available for sale.Students mustcomplete the application form, and place the form and books in a plastic bag.The bag can be left at Main Receptionfrom Monday 21November.On Thursday 1December from 12–4pm and Friday2December from 10–4pm, booksand forms in a plastic bag can be taken to the BaileyRoom. No books can be accepted after 3pm on Friday 2December.

Buying Books on Sale Day

Use the PCA Booklist to determine which books will be available for purchase on sale day.On sale day, no parents/students will be admitted before sale time.We operate a ticketing system where each parent/student is given a numbered ticket upon arrival.Parents/students are admitted in groups of 20 to avoid congestion.We accept cash, cheque (made payable to SMGSParents Association), EFTPOS and credit card (MasterCard and Visa).

Conditions

  1. Sale price will be 60% of the retail price printed on the St Michael’s (OfficeMax) booklist.
  2. When selling books, if your book is sold, 70% of the sale price will be refunded to you by cheque or by crediting your child’s school account. 30% will be retained by the PCA as a selling commission. This is used by the PCA to assist the School in funding special projects.
  3. Valid books not sold and requested for return will be available for collection from the Bailey Room after the sale. If not collected by Tuesday 6 December, they will be donated to a charity, as the School closes for the Christmas break that week. We cannot return invalid books, even if you request your books to be returned.
  4. Books not sold and not requested for return will be donated to a charity.
  5. Please ensure that you provide an email address that you can be contacted on post-sale.
  6. Only valid books will be listed in your summary statement.
  7. Under all circumstances, St Michael’s and the St Michael’s PCA and their staff and members are completely absolved from any liability, or for the loss, damage or theft of books.
