It is explained to user that the purpose of early deployment is the opportunity to “play” with the device over summer break.
Upon return in the fall, the user will have to abide by the schedule set up by IT department for change over AND device may not be available as “Point of Instruction” (hooked up to projector etc.) until scheduled date.

Setup

Log into machine using User Name and Password.
Same Employee # and password for network login. Let user know that their machine has been added to their school "environment" which automatically gives them access to the printers available at that school BUT they will have to install printers for other printers off site.
Log into Global Protect Using User Name and Password (Only have to do every 365 days)However if you change the Admin password, you will be prompted to log in again using new password.

Bluetooth: Bluetooth and other devices.
Turn on bluetooth to make discoverable. Surface Pen/ Hold top of pen down and wait for pairing.
Bitlocker: Apply Bitlocker to D Drive (sd card) for data encryption.
Turn On Bitlocker.
Choose: “encrypt used disk space only “
Choose: “compatible mode”
Start encryption (will take a minute or two)
Manage Bitlocker
Turn on Auto-unlock
This caches the password for the primary user so that the password isn’t required at every login.
Backup: Add a drive – select removable disk (D:)
Choose: “automatically back up my files”
Click on MORE OPTIONS:
Recommended use every hour (default) and either "Lifetime" or "Until space is needed".
Explain that if selecting “Until space is needed”, documents will not be deleted, just old VERSIONS of documents.
Software Center: Show User the Microsoft System Software center for extra installs of district approved software.
Show how system updates are managed by this system and can be personalized by user.
This PC: instruct user on data management
Documents folder/H: Drive
Outlook: open outlook. Once it appears on the taskbar below, pin it to the task bar (right click the icon = 2 fingers on the touch pad)
Inform user on benefit of logging off (or shutting down) before taking the computer home for easier network access and connection from home
