Governance is an important part of leadership and management. Key in this role is the responsibility for monitoring all aspects of school in order to ensure good progress is made by our pupils and that the systems we have in place are effective in supporting that goal.

Monitoring will take place on a number of levels. For governors, the monitoring of progress against key priorities outlined in the current school Improvement Plan is central to their role. There is a named governor for each of these priorities. In addition to this governors are linked to specific teachers. This enables a good working relationship to develop. Monitoring an aspect of the School Improvement Plan should involve at least one visit to school per term. The governor responsible should meet with the teacher responsible for that aspect of school improvement. Reporting should follow a similar format to that of class visits. Progress against targets set in the School Improvement Plan should be carefully monitored and action points resulting from the visit highlighted. A proforma is available for these reports. Reports should be e-mailed to the Headteacher. All reports will be passed on to the relevant staff and a copy filed alongside the School Improvement Plan.
