Be in PHS gear, shirt tucked in, phone put away. Look them in the eye, shake their hand and don’t forget to smile. They are going to make a decision very quickly- mostly based on how you look and if you seem friendly and honest.

Hi, my name is ______, and I play baseball for Poudre High School. Am I catching you at a bad time?

If they say yes it is a bad time, ask them when would be a better time to reach them. If they say no, they have time to talk now, proceed with the meeting.

I’d like to talk with you about how you can support the Poudre baseball program, some of the kids in our program, and get some good publicity for your business possibly at the same time.(If someone else comes to talk to you about it, REINTRODUCE YOURSELF and find out and write down the name of the person you are talking to. Give a professional handshake as well.)

Would it be ok if I tell you a little bit about our program?

Poudre High School has had a baseball program since the school opened- this is our 50th anniversary. Like every program, we’ve had our ups and downs, and we’re definitely on the way up. We’re really excited about our prospects for this season, and making the Poudre community proud of our 50th year.

We have a new coach, Coach Haigh, and we’ve been working hard as a team over the winter- lifting and doing inside drills and working in the batting cages. He’s written you a letter about what the program means to the school and each of the players. (Hand them the letter)

We have to come up with the majority of our funds- 94% actually, to pay for equipment like batting tees, materials like rakes and infield chalk and clay to keep the field in shape. As you know, Poudre has a pretty diverse student population, and some of the money we raise also goes to scholarships for the guys who wouldn’t be able to play otherwise- to pay for their fees and uniforms.

Your support would mean a lot to the program, and to me. We want the community to know you’re supporting us, too, so we’re selling advertising that can be seen for an entire year, displayed at the high school so that the parents and students know that you support our program.

We have two options:

A banner for our outfield fence.

A banner for our parking lot fence.

Ask them to flip Coach Haigh’s letter over.

Would you be interested in helping us make our 50th year our best yet?

If they say no, ask if the person would consider a purchase later in the season, or possibly next season

-OR-

If they’d consider making a $50 donation in honor of the 50th season.

No matter how the person responds, always leave on a positive note; thank the person sincerely, shake hands, and wish him or her a nice day.
