GENERAL MANAGER:

Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Registrations, Licensure and Document Management (Paterson Grade D5)

Salary Range: R822, 228 – R1, 199, 036 per annum

Primary Purpose

This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer, functioning independently with a focus on the strategic and operational management of an administrative division. The key accountability focuses on the effective administration of Practitioners’ registration, ensuring that the register is updated and accurate, and CPD management.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

An Honours’ degree in Administration or related field

Postgraduate qualification in Business Management or Leadership, an MBA qualification is preferred

10 years management experience of which 5 years should be at a senior management level

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Strategically plan, organise, co-ordinate, control and provide guidance regarding the provision of effective and efficient CPD, Registrations and Records services to all stakeholders;

Ensure that the register is updated and accurate

To liaise with other national and international regulatory authorities on best practices regarding registrations, re-certification and continuing professional development;

Guide and submit necessary advice to the HPCSA CPD Committee in compiling CPD policies and devising strategies for the accreditation of CPD activities and Service Providers in line with Governmental strategies

Ensure establishment of an assessment model for all health professionals

Ensure the smooth implementation of the CPD Guidelines across all professional boards

Guide and submit necessary national and international benchmarked advice to all 12 Professional Boards with regard to all registration related business processes of the different health professions

Ensure updated and correct information and guidance to all health professionals.

Relationship Management;

Keep accurate records on Continuing Professional Development of the practitioners;

Tactical optimisation of systems and procedures;

Ensure effective business processes and systems implementation and enhancement; ensure quality service and information delivery to all stakeholders;

Financial and Human Resources Management and oversight of responsible spending according to approved budget;

Leadership - Provide expert advice and guidance to operational team regarding a combination of support / enabling functions;

Project Delivery – provide the necessary resource capacity to support the execution of national projects of a complex nature within the specified time frame, budget, quality, innovation, legal requirements;

Generate Management Reports - produce regular reports on planning & progress status, issues & risks associated with the operations..

Process improvements - continuously seeking opportunities to improve current processes that will enhance efficiency and drive costs down;

Risk Management – considering all possible risks associate with change requests, Managing and eradicating the risks identified; demand forecasting and execution of service delivery;

Championing the Council mandate and purpose – providing a direct and indirect operational support that will contribute to the divisional output and mandate in HPCSA;

Implementation of Best practices:

Implementing best practises that are scalable, and that can be implemented globally;

Advise on best change management approaches that would have minimum, no business or operational impact.
