  1. Research Activities and Interests:

1- Extraction and identification of essential oils and fixed oils from Sudanese plantsand investigation of their constituents by chromatographic and spectroscopictechniques.

2- Structure elucidation of biologically active isolates from essential oils andTerpenoids from fixed oils.

3- Extraction and isolation of bioactive constituents from terrestrial plants following theethnopharmacologic approach by bioassay-guided fractionation techniques.

(3-1) Structure elucidation of the phytopharmaceuticals by modern spectroscopic techniques.

(3-2) In vitro and in vivo bioassays of isolated bioactive constituents.

(3-3) Application of the same methodology on marine organisms collected from

different locations in red sea.

4- My interest is focused mainly on flavonoids, lignans and triterpenoids as bioactivemetabolites isolated from terrestrial or marine fauna.

5- Attempts to contribute in development of the CAM approach in aromatherapy andherbal remedies in collaboration with researchers in pharmacology andpharmaceutics as well as pharmaceutical chemistry.
