ROMEO and JULIET Poster Assignment (200 Points)

ROMEO AND JULIET poster assignment (200 points)

As part of our discussion of the themes in the play, your assignment is to produce a poster with all of the following elements:

1.  Poster created on glogster.com (separate instruction sheet coming)

2.  ROMEO AND JULIET in all caps; William Shakespeare written underneath (at the top of your poster)

ITEMS 3, 4, 6 MUST BE COMPLETE BEFORE YOU ARRIVE IN CLASS ON FRIDAY 10/16. WITHOUT THESE COMPLETED, YOU WILL NOT FINISH YOUR POSTER ON TIME. HAVE AN IDEA OF IMAGES YOU WANT TO TRY TO USE FOR ELEMENT 5.

3.  Theme in the middle of your poster. Your choices are listed below:

young love, hatred, death, the heavens, vengeance

4.  One set of quotes from each act that demonstrates the theme with the act, scene, and line information written as shown here:

Here comes the lady. O, so light a foot

Will ne’er wear out the everlasting flint.

A lover may bestride the gossamer

That idles in the wanton summer air,

And yet not fall; so light is vanity.

Act II, scene vi, lines 17-21

5.  One picture or symbolic representation for each quote you choose. Try to choose from the images on Glogster. For example, the quote above says that Juliet is walking lightly in her shoes because she’s so happy that she’s about to marry Romeo. You could search for a picture of a shoe.

6.  For each of your quotes, you need a 1-3 sentence explanation of how it relates to the theme. Explain to me why you chose that exact quote, and how it best describes the theme you have chosen.

We will work on this in class on Friday, October 16. I will show you how to use Glogster, and you will have one class period to complete the project. If you need more time than this, you will have to come in before school, after school, or during lunch. You will present your poster to the class on Tuesday, October 20 using the overhead projector.
