Romeo and Juliet Final Project
Now that we have finished reading Romeo and Juliet, we will complete a group project that will summarize what we have read and learned.
There will five groups, one to represent each act in the play. Your group will decide as a team which version of the project they would like to complete. You must summarize the entire Act, as well as complete a writing assignment explaining why you feel the major events in your Act occurred. (See character analysis handout) You may choose one of the following for your project:
Puppet show
Your group will put on a puppet show for your classmates summarizing your assigned act. Group members must write a script that is a minimum of FIVE minutes when performed. Your script must be a condensed version of your act. I will provide art supplies, (google eyes, felt, etc). to make puppets representing the characters from the act. You also must have some type of background (this can be done on a poster, or butcher paper) to set the scene for your show.
Skit
Your group will perform a skit summarizing your assigned act. You must write a script that is FIVE minutes minimum when performed. You must assign parts, and dress in costumes. I will have a few supplies you can use, but you must come up with the majority of costume parts and props. You must have a background (poster or butcher paper) to set the scene for your skit.
Song
Your group will write and perform an ORIGINAL song that summarizes your assigned act. Remember to include all events from your assigned act. The presentation should be no longer than FIVE minutes long. You must provide any background music. We will provide a CD player if one is needed. You will also need to complete an explanation of how your song represents the events that occur in the play. Your song must be school appropriate!
Remember each member must contribute to the project. Each member must help write the script or lyrics. Your grades will reflect your participation in the preparation of the project.
You will have class time to work on the project. We will present on Thursday and Friday of this week. Remember to use your time wisely. You may work on the props and puppets at home to allow time to rehearse at school if you would like.

Character Analysis:
Directions: Individually, you must choose a major event with a main character involved from your assigned act to analyze. In order to analyze the events in this act, you must summarize what takes place and how the character responds to this event.
**Example: If I were to choose Romeo In Act One at the opening of the play, I would consider the major event to be his depressive manor. His reasoning for displaying this emotion is because Rosaline will not pay any attention to him, and he feels that his life is over and he will never love another.
