Kakaako MEB 202

1.Updates/Reminders

Lori Emery is ill and will not be attending.

-Promotion/Tenure Dossier Status: All dossier are with the TPRCs for review. If Chairs/applicants have not heard from the Dean, all is well (“no news is good news”).

-DPC Procedures: Departments are requested to complete the review of their DPC procedures and submit through the approval process. After approval by the department faculty, forward a copy to Lori for Dean’s approval.

2.Department Chair/Leadership Evaluations

HR and the Dean are encouraged to include items related to:

  • Values
  • Personal Qualities
  • Relationships between chair and respondent

Chairs would also like to have a description of the items in a leader that will be assessed. It would helpful if a copy of the job descriptions for both clinical and basic science chairs be made available to all Chairs in advance. If such a document could be approved, it would serve as a structure for the evaluation.

Chairs would like to discuss why the existing Annual Department ChairReport submission process is not used during the Chair/Leadership evaluation process. Should Chairs continue to complete their Annual Department Chair Report and should the faculty continue to complete their evaluation of the Chairs via the Annual Faculty/Department Chair Report submission process online via the JABSOM Faculty Development website?
