Purpose of Services / Employment Systems Group is responsible for the development and maintenance of bespoke Employment Services applications, including ESSWeb, ESS Smartclient, CDP, jobactive online, and related employment applications/websites. This includes the provision, maintenance and tuning of regular and ad-hoc batch programs coded in a variety of languages, the majority which have been ported from mainframe into Neobatch.
This is a high pressure/high workload environment and we are looking for someone who can:
  • Advise on proper batch processing techniques
  • Contribute to the continual improvement/automation of batch management processes
  • Proactively analyse batch results to assist in identifying potential issues
  • Monitor batch performance
  • Provide technical assistance to Applications Support (second level system support) staff as required
  • Maintain documentation to assist in the monitoring of batch
  • Technically liaise with analysts, developers, and testers

  • Strong analytical skills
  • A solid background in Mainframe and database concepts
  • A solid background and understanding of JCL requirements and coding
  • Ability to liaise with end users and management
  • Ability to technically liaise with analyst's developers and testers
  • Understanding of the importance of constant batch monitoring
  • Attention to detail
Desirable Criteria:
  • Ability to understand and maintain Powershell scripts
  • Ability to read and understand C#
  • Ability to read and understand COBOL
  • Ability to read and understand REXT

Intellectual Property Rights – ownership of Contract Material / The Department owns the Intellectual Property Rights in Contract Material
Limitation of liability – cap / $XXX GST exclusive per occurrence
= to three (3) X Official Order value.
Liability is capped at $10M in the aggregate.

Fee structure / Hourly rates including both GST inclusive and exclusive rates, and quoted in either half or full dollars.
