Grade 5 / 9-9:30 (30 minutes)
Grade 4 / 9:30-10 (30 minutes)
Kindergarten / 10-10:40 (40 minutes)
Grade 1 / 10:40-11:20 (40 minutes)
BREAK / 11:20-12 (40 minutes-lunch)
Grade 3 / 12-12:40 (40 minutes)
Grade 2 / 12:40-1:20 (40 minutes)
Grade 6 / 1:30-2 (30 minutes)
BREAKDOWN / 2pm – Thank you!
  • Each class will try to use around 10 minutes to get their students up the wall
  • When students are waiting for their turn/have already gone up the wall they can relax in the music room and watch the movie that will be playing on the TV

**TEACHERS- when YOUR class is going up the wall, please supervise your students and direct them when they are done back to the music room.

WATER BALLOON TOSS

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Each student will pick a partner
  • All pairs will receive one water balloon to start
  • Have students start out close together, toes to toes, focusing on underhand tossing ONLY
  • Gradually increase the distance between partners to make the toss and catch more difficult
  • If a balloon pops, allow those students to have another water balloon, to try again.

*PLEASE LIMIT PARTNERS TO A MAXIMUM

OF 3 WATER BALLOONS ONLY*

  • Once a partner pair is out, they can sit and cheer on their classmates

*For added difficulty:

  • Under the leg toss
  • Backwards toss
  • Football hike toss
  • Eyes shut toss

WATER BALLOON VOLLEYBALL

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Students will need to work together during this crazy volleyball game to see how many times they can “volley” a water balloon back and forth over the net without having it break
  • Assign 5 or 6 students to a sheet and position them on the volleyball court so that there are equal amount of sheets in the front and back row
  • START by using a beach ball to have the students get used to catching the ball softly with the sheet and tossing it back
  • How many volleys can you make with the beachball?
  • Encourage them to use communication and teamwork
  • Once you think they are ready, add the water balloons
  • Keep track of grade level record/overall school record

BUCKET FILL

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • All students will work together with their class to complete this task
  • Break students up in to their different groups to move through activity quickly
  • All students will start behind the bucket that is filled with water, and the first person in every line will hold a cup

* ALL CUPS HAVE HOLES IN THE BOTTOM SO BE AWARE *

  • On the “GO” signal, first person in line fills up cup with water and runs down to their team’s empty bucket and dumps cup out
  • As students are running down to the empty bucket, they must make sure to keep as much water in their cup as possible by using two hands to cover the holes on the bottom of the cup
  • Demonstrate how they might want to hold the cup
  • The group to fill up their empty bucket first will be the winners!

RACE CAR RELAY

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Divide class up in to their mini teams, and each team gets 2 race cars
  • The first and second person in each line should start “in their car”, however the second person does NOT go through the obstacle course until the first person has completed the course and made its way back to the group
  • Once a student has gone through the course, they hand their “car” to the next person in line who is waiting to go
  • Students sit in a line once they have completed the course

*If there is time, go through the course again 

Toilet Paper Toss

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Divide the students up in to their mini teams
  • Explain they can use TOSSING UNDERHAND or THROWING OVERHAND
  • First student in line will pick up a toilet roll and on your “GO” signalwill toss it or throw it and try to get it in to the “toilet”
  • After they throw they rotate to the back of the line
  • Keep on allowing students to throw until all the toilet rolls have been thrown in to the boxes, or until time is up
  • Which group got the most rolls in to the toilet??

OBSTACLE COURSE GRADES 2 & 3

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • The class will be completing this task as one big TEAM
  • They must go through the course together, not starting until the person in front of them passes the designated marker, and not over-running their classmates but encouraging one another and helping each other out throughout the course
  • Show students the obstacle course quickly, showing them where to go and what to do

OBSTACLE COURSE:

  • Start at RED SPOTS, go up and over
  • Crawl/step over black cargo rope
  • Step from elevated red step to red step all the way across (they SPIN, watch for safety)
  • Run through “carwash”, head up stairs
  • Crawl up the ramp through the tunnel
  • Slide down LITTLE RED SLIDE
  • Climb up MINI ROCKWALL
  • Army crawl under ropes
  • SLIDE DOWN BIG RED SLIDE
  • RUN ALL THE WAY BACK TO STARTING SPOT

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • The class will be completing this task as one big TEAM

  • RUN ALL THE WAY BACK TO STARTING SPOT

YELLOW PLAYSCAPE

-10 minutes –

-(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Split class in to their mini teams and place them around playscape (each group at a different starting area)
  • On the “GO” signal, each group will send one person up at a time to try to untie a scarf to bring back to their group
  • THEY MAY ONLY GO GET ONE SCARF AT A TIME
  • THIS PERSON ONLY HAS 10 MISSISSIPPI’S TO GET A SCARF, and their group must count out loud for them
  • If after 10 Mississippi’s they couldn’t untie one, they must return back to their group to let the next person in line go.
  • Each group is trying to be the group with the most scarves at the end of the station.

SHOE PILE RELAY GRADES 2 & 3

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Each student will take off their shoes and place them on the opposite end of the blue top
  • All shoes must be untied, unstrapped and mixed up with the other shoes
  • Divide students in to their mini groups and have them line up behind a cone
  • One at a time, ON THE GO SIGNAL, they must go try to find their shoes, put them on, TIE THEM or FULLY STRAP THEM and STAR JUMP all the way back to their group, high five the next person in line and then sit at the end of their line
  • Once all teams are back, declare winners, and if there is time play again, this time they must crab walk back.
  • If a third round is allowed, have them do 5 jumping jacks before they can head back to their team.

*if someone is NOT wearing shoes that are appropriate, have them borrow one of the PE shoes that are provided

**NO ONE CAN PLAY THIS GAME IN SANDALS

SHOE PILE RELAY GRADES 4 & 5

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Each student will take off their shoes and place them on the opposite end of the blue top
  • All shoes must be untied, unstrapped and mixed up with the other shoes
  • Divide students in to their mini groups and have them line up behind a cone
  • On the GO SIGNAL, the first student in line must “dizzy bat” 5 times (6th grader counts FAIRLY) then try to run down to the shoe pile to find their shoes, put them on, TIE THEM, and return back to their group, high five the next person in line and sit at the end.
  • Once the next person in line is high fived, they dizzy bat 5 times and repeat the shoe finding process
  • Once all teams are back, declare winners, and if there is time play again, this time they must STAR JUMP all the way back to their group.
  • If a third round is allowed, have them do 5 jumping jacks before they can head back to their team.

*if someone is NOT wearing shoes that are appropriate, have them borrow one of the PE shoes that are provided

PARACHUTE FUN

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Have students sit around the edge of the parachute, one child per color
  • Explain that they should hold on to the parachute with two hands
  • On YOUR SIGNAL have students grab on to the parachute and stay on their knees
  • Shake the parachute to make “waves”
  • While in this position:
  • Call specific colors and have those students crawl on top of the parachute and find their color somewhere else
  • Have students stand
  • While in this position:
  • Have students raise parachute up and down together
  • Have students raise parachute up and wave to each other under the parachute
  • Have students raise parachute up and you call out a specific color, have those students run under the raised parachute and find their color somewhere else
  • Have students raise parachute up, take two giants steps towards the middle, pull parachute down around their bottoms and sit on their color, inside the parachute
  • Lay parachute out nicely when done for next group

POPCORN FUN

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Have students sit around the edge of the parachute, one child per color
  • Explain that they should hold on to the parachute with two hands
  • Have students stand while holding the parachute and start to make waves
  • While students are making waves throw on different objects and see if the students can pop them back off
  • Turn it in to a game and see if they can finish with less objects than they started with
  • See if they can pop certain objects off but keep certain objects on
  • See how high they can pop an object
  • Lay parachute out nicely when done for next group

TOXIC RIVER GRADE 2

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Class will work TOGETHER to accomplish teamwork tasks
  • Place entire class on one tarp
  • Explain to the students that they must make their way to the tarp on the other side of the field but must NEVER touch the ground
  • Explain that on the tarps they have equipment they could use to try to get to the other tarp
  • Explain they should be using teamwork, cooperation and communication
  • Classroom teacher may help
  • If a student touches the ground they must return back to their original tarp

TOXIC RIVER GRADE 3

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Class will work TOGETHER to accomplish teamwork tasks
  • TASK 1
  • Give GROUP 1 yellow pinnies and put them on one tarp, and give GROUP 2 blue pinnies and put them on to the other tarp
  • Explain to the students that the yellow group must switch tarps with the blue team but must NEVER touch the ground
  • Explain that on the tarps each team has equipment they could use to try to get to the other tarp
  • Explain they should be using teamwork, cooperation and communication
  • Classroom teacher may help but can not direct students what to do
  • If a student touches the ground they must return back to their original tarp
  • THAT’S IT! NO MORE DIRECTIONS
  • Unless they are struggling….then tell them that they might want to think about how both teams can help one another
  • Even though each team received different supplies, it was never stated that they couldn’t share the supplies

TOXIC RIVER GRADES 4 & 5

- 10 minutes -

(wait for HORN to rotate)

  • Class will work TOGETHER to accomplish teamwork tasks
  • TASK 1
  • Give GROUP 1 yellow pinnies and put them on one tarp, and give GROUP 2 blue pinnies and put them on to the other tarp

  • TASK 2
  • Yellow and Blue pinnied teams will be doing the SAME activity, just separately
  • Both teams must flip their tarp over without ever getting off of it
  • They need to really communicate and talk to each other for this one, and yes they may need to get real up close and personal with one another
  • At some point someone may need to step off the tarp, but everyone must keep ONE FOOT on the tarp at all times!
